So, it seems like all fisherman need these, but there's no good solution.  That is, ziploc-style bags to store small tackle that has a leader on it, like a self-tied mooching rig.  For me, the perfect size is something like 3x3" or 3x4" with *thick* plastic.  Palstic thickness is important to guard against puncture by hooks, and the leakage (in) of saltwater which inevitably happens and then your tackle is screwed.

Anytime I come across these (from tackle purchases) I always save them, but I can never collect enough to keep up.  I like to be organized, and prepared.  Ziploc sandwich bags and even their snack size bags are too big, and the plastic is way too thin anyway.  Tiny hard-plastic cases aren't a good solution either because they take up too much space.

Does anyone know where these types of things are sold in bulk?  Neither Yaeger's or Dave's (tackle stores in/near bham) have them.  I tried redden marine and they were basically like, "no".  I'm kind of surprised nobody sells this stuff.

Anyone have any ideas?

Craft stores are where I get my little plastic baggies.  Michaels is a good place to start.  Yeah, it blows my mind that tackle stores do not carry these.

Try TAP Plastics.  I think I recall seeing some there in a variety of sizes.

Yep, TAP has 'em. They are ziploc bag thickness though TTM. No doubt a tackle company needs to sell better ones. When it comes to leaders nothing beats a chunk of pool noodle IMO. Now if they only came in camo. :)

I just noted the other day that our new Cornelius Wal*Mart has 3 different sizes for your ziplock style bags in the craft section.
Only a couple bucks for like 50 or more. I didn't look at the actual bag count but the stack was 1/2" thick.

One of the places that carries a multitude in Uline. They have them up to 8 mil, but ya gotta buy them by the 1k, which for a 3x5 inch size is $55.

If 6 mil thickness will do it, you can get them in lots of 500 for about $15 here at NAPS:

I have purchased from Uline before but not NAPS. - I think Spot's or Zee's recommendations are best unless you want a LOT.

Jann's NETCRAFT

I did some searching and found this sight that has all kinds of supplies for making you own lures and stuff.  They have 2 MIL ZIP LOCK POLY BAGS that are pretty cheap.  I would imagine these are what you are looking for since they are selling them as ways of packaging your lures to sell.  They also have the same type of packages you see lures in that are sold in the stores.

I have never ordered anything from them but looks kinda interesting maybe I should make some nifty homemade lures or maybe a hand made custom rod.

Things you probably already thought of:

Fly fisherman use leader wallets.

I use pipe insulation rather than pool noodle because it fits inside my Plano boxes.

I also coil some hooked leaders.  Loop it into about a 3" loop, then weave the free end in and out of the loop a few times to keep it from unraveling.

This is a little involved, but for the obsessive DIY'r it is an opportunity to use fire and offers the thrill of some risk.

Office suppliers sell pretty thick page protectors.  You can build your own leader slips from them.  Get the page protectors that only have one open end at the top.  They also need to be a soft plastic rather than cellophane-ish.

Let's just assume you want square slips half the width of the protector.  Cut the sealed bottom section off then cut that in half to create 2 squares with 2 open sides.

Here comes the cool part.  Use two pieces of sheet metal if you have it or cardboard if you don't.  The cardboard is often more exciting.  Position one of the open edges of one of the squares between the two sheets of whatever, leaving about 1/8" of plastic sticking out.  With a lighter gently heat the 1/8" strip of exposed plastic.  It will melt and create a nice seal.

You can even get fancy and cut the slips such that they have a fold-in flap at the top.

Don't let your wife catch you doing this in the house.

If you aren't into heavy crafting...  You can look for a Luhr Jensen leader tote.  I use it for leaders while banking it for steelhead.  they work great and hold up well. In the boat or yak Pool Noodle/pipe wrap is the way to go.
