Greetings all!

Something I have been considering for a while now is advanced training in a sit inside kayak.  Pool rescue sessions and roll class are great.  I will actually be retaking the rescue class and adding roll class this winter.  But, beyond the basic boat handling skills are the larger topics of seamanship: navigation, weather, tides & currents and route planning.  For any longer, boat-based expeditions, these could be life-saving skills.  Besides, how cool would it be to go on a multi-day self-contained kayak exploration and fishing expedition?!?  Honestly, I could see the reward in selling everything I own and becoming a certified guide and just paddle, explore, live simply, and see the world from the cockpit of a kayak.  What could be better?
But, realistically, training could be very beneficial for the any trip.  Anybody else interested in doing something like this next summer?  This would be good prep for paddling in the QCI with their quirky currents and weather.  Besides, it would be a good reason for me to get my no-longer-in-shape body back into the gym for some good fitness abuse.

The weather is perfect.
The water is perfect.
The current is perfect.
The tide is perfect.
Now all we need is the secret ingredient!
