Does anybody know of a place that I can buy from online that has a coupon or gives an NCKA/NWKA discount for Yakima products?

I took a trip a couple weeks ago with a friend that had the Yakima boat loader bar. I have never had too much trouble loading my boats before, but when we used the boat loader bar it made putting boats on top of a camper shell effortless! Now I need to buy one (or two, one for each side of the truck).

Austin City Kayaks has a great 20% coupon, but Yakima products are exempt.   >:(
The loader bars aren't too expensive, but I hate paying retail for anything. The cheapeast I've found is $80/each with free shipping. Other palces have them cheaper, but charge an arm and a leg for shipping.

Keep in mind I'm in Coeur d'Alene, so either driving over to REI in Spokane or mail order are about my only options locally.

Couldn't you just make one for under $80?  It's pretty much the same concept as a shower curtain bar.  Swage or affix a large washer (OD just smaller than the ID of your rack) on one end of the pipe, spray white lithium into the rack tube, affix a collar or bushing on the rack tube as a retainer, and put a cap on the pipe to keep it from "turtle-heading."

I could make one, but buying one is worth the price for me compared to the trips to the hardware store, figuring out how to swage/attach things with the tools I have, and the amount of time it would take me to do all of it. Some things I like to make myself, but making this would eat into the already limited amount of time I'm able to spend brewing beer and wrapping rods.  ;D

If you had a friend that wasn't going to his/her REI 20% off coupon that came in the mail the other day, it might be worth the drive over the border.

Rack n Road on Aurora matches competitor coupons.  One nice thing about them is that they will mount for you.  http://www.racknroad.com/

I just bought a Yakima rack system from them and they matched REI's 20% off sale (ended over Labor Day).  From what I hear, Yakima dealers have to stick to retail pricing, as does Hobie.  Good luck.

I forgot those were coming out soon. I haven't received mine yet, but now I know what I will use it for. Thanks!  ;D

Hey Fishin-Jay,

If you don't want to wait for it to hit your mailbox, you can order online and have it waiting for you at the store. Coupon code is: Fall20

Thanks for the help everyone. I ended up buying through Outdoor Play. With the 15% discount that Alkasazi sent me, no sales tax (since I live in idaho), and free shiping, it ended up being the cheapest way to go by far: about $67. At that price I decided to buy two loader bars, once for each side of my truck since I usually carry two boats.

Thanks Alkasazi!

Hmm, I bought mine around a year ago and it was $69 retail. I guess they went up! It has been worth every penny and is way cheaper than the more expensive loaders. Thule makes a similar loader as well.
