I have last year's Costco sold food saver....I love it my elk and venison from last year once thawed is just as good as the day we butchered it. I vac salmon fillets skin on for my oldest kid in seaside and even after 6 months months in the freezer he said it tastes like it was cooked immediately after filleting and yes he has cooked it right off the filet table. We buy bulk meat at cashncarry and cut it and freeze it, it's a little slow on keeping up with the knife but we have never had freezer burn and it always tastes fresh. Just my $0.02

I gave up on the cheaper vacuum packers and went to a chamber vacuum system http://www.meatprocessingproducts.com/ary-vp112c.html?gclid=CjwKEAiAu6DBBRDDr6-e_6698E0SJACvuxny3vEtAoYgSoApvgsv8AFIOodYJkm6YzqPxM4H3WNqdRoCigTw_wcB. You can vacuum pack liquids if you want. Also, the bags I use cost me a little over 4 cents a piece vs the 30+ cents/equivalent sized bag the food saver bags/rolls cost. I have been using it with great results for about 5 years and the difference in price of the bags has made up for the difference in price over a quality food saver type vacuum packer.

What Craig said.  One of the best investments ive ever made.  I even use the packer to seal bags for retort canning for tuna and similar.

Thanks, Craig.  A number of people have said that the higher initial investment for a chamber sealer is offset by the savings in packaging materials... which could be offset by the cost of additional fishing trips to keep a steady supply of things to package.    :)

I'm going to take a look at the chamber sealers to see if they are right for me.

This Duo really looks fantastic to do both chamber and suction sealing... Im due for an upgrade myself and looking hard at that one!

Fence-straddler!  If I can't decide which type to buy, I'll never be able to decide which half of a Duo to use!    ;)

That looks like an interesting machine, and thanks for showing to us.
