Somebody thought to give PC an eyeball today. From the looks of things it was a no go.  Only the surfers were enjoying the swells.  Silver Toyota land cruiser towing a utility/yak trailer with an Orange kayak in the PC Parking lot around noonish.  Sorry would have stopped and chatted but I had a date with some Steelhead water a little east of  there ;D.

Sounds like TxPaddler's rig.

I think that boy's hooked on the salt.   ;D

It looked pretty damn nice today @ D.B.

No wind, 6 footers w/good period, sunshine.

I have boot marks on my backside from kicking myself for not being out there.

The gray whale parade was way the hell offshore too. Not something you really want to paddle out in front of this time of year.

trailer had Washington tags...

The ocean looked totally doable but the swells seemed to be straight out of the West. The Cape wasn't able to provide any of its normal protection.

Yea Spot had it right that was me. Ultimately My lack of experience in the surf zone told me to play it safe. Think I would have gone out if someone else was there but still a little nervous in the surf, more coming in than going out. Plus I saw what looked to be a pretty big singular wave breaking out near then on rock that would have just about been where I would have gone first so that was my sign from god.

So I just hit an area lake without much success.

PP, did you do that "stealhead water" in your kayak? Any luck?

You made the right call staying on the beach.  I watched the surf for a while and going out would have been a challenge and coming back in would have basically been a controlled crash at best

Non kayak trip..  only hit the water from a little after noon till about 2ish. Had a couple real sexy bobber downs but nothing to show for it.  I had to head home early and pull some crab pots before it got dark, man I can't wait for longer days.

I'm always happy to have some company on the salt, I'll keep you in mind the next time I head west.

I've noticed a big, cleaner wave that happens semi regular at PC in between (chambers I think it's called) and kiwanda, outside the regular break zone. It's super long and breaks from outside the cape all the way past chambers........and no one is ever on it. I don't think when you are on a board/boat that you really even see it, but you can see it from up on the dunes.

I'm kind of sad you didn't call me TX :( I've been sitting on my duff for 3 days nursing a sick GF......would have loved to escape with you!

Nanook sorry last minute call which is why I didn't get out there until around 12:30.

Both Nanook and PP I am thiking about heading out that way again next Monday. I know it's too early to even plan anything but swells/intervals are right at my comfort tolerance zone for next Monday. And if the ocean falls through I really want to try to try Tillamook Bay for Sturgeon....Is that a crazy idea?
