Am I CRAZY? regarding a Mini-X Factor

I currently own a X-Factor (that I have for sale in the classified section of this website...hint!...hint!) and I LOVE everything about it. Great room, storage, ride, stability, tracking, looks, lifetime hull warenty, etc. Only thing is it's way too long for many of the places I fish, mostly creeks and protected saltwater for silvers, cutthroat trout and the occasional crabbing expedition.

I have a Toyota Tacoma and miss the old days where I could throw my john boat in the back of my truck (no special racks, carriers, trailers, etc. and go fish.

Am I CRAZY for wanting a shorter Mini-X or a OK Caper??? I wish I could afford a two boat navy, but that's not an option right now?

I don't know much about the mini-X, but I've done well in my Caper (that's it in my avatar).  My current boat is a Cobra Navigator, but it really isn't much bigger.  If you're fishing freshwater or protected saltwater I don't think you'll have a problem.  With the shorter kayak you just don't have the speed or range you might have in a longer kayak.  By the way, my Caper fits in the back of my Ford Ranger without problems.

Whopper, you might try some of the rental places, as they replace some of the used boats annually. May talk 'em out of what you want for a little less.
2 boats is not enough! I have a p-13 and a tandem Agean, looking for a deal on a smaller boat as well.

The Cutty's are getting fewer in the Chetco, but the Salmon are starting to come into the lower river with the tide. We're just waiting for the RAINS!

I've always thought a mini-X would be a decent yak in creeks.  But as always ... try before you buy.  There is a Malibu dealer in Port Angeles and another one in Longview.
