Has anyone ever used the flush mount scotty rod holders on there yak. There the ones that put the mount on and then you can remove the rod holder, or adjust it. Just want to know before I go and drill holes in the yak. I already have one mounted but its not the flush kind. The only draw back is that it puts a hole through the yak cause the bottom of the monut is open I don't think it will be a problem because once the holder is in the mount it plugs the hole. I actually have a cap that I super glued on too. No worries I think.

Same question here.  I've always used in-deck mounted holders or milkcrate/PVC, but now that I'm rigging up a couple Prowlers, there are no flat surfaces on the front to mount the in-deck style holder.

I worry that with the flush mount holder, the rod holder is too low to the deck, meaning I'll have restrictions on angle.  I don't know for sure, so I guess I should just try it.

Anyone ever use a Folbe rod holder (www.folbe.com)?  It's an interesting design.  Watch the movie to see how it works.

I entertaining thoughts of various Ram Mounts as well.

This is a copy of the post I made in my Tarpon Mod post. You can get a extention for the mount to raise the rod holder up if need be. I seen one at White Elephant yesterday. The had the flush mount bracket with a plug also in case you don't use the rod holder.
Flush mount rod holder.

Note the direction the arrow is pointing. That is the were the holder locks in. I put it in that position so the holder will not pop out when the holder is pointing out the water side of the yak like in picture 3. It does not really work much for actual trolling or fishing. as the spinning reel rests on the kayak and it is a little hard to get out of the holder from that position. However this is fine by me as I use the holder for a place to hold my extra rod out of the way while not using it. I do not like the way many have their rods sticking strait up in the air. I do a lot of cast fishing and that make it easy to get your line caught on the pole behind you. I like the pole down and out of the way like in the 2nd last picture.

Hi Jason.  Welcome!  Some nice posts coming from you so far.  Good insight and contribution.

Here's how I did my Prowler.  I put 2 Ram mounts up front as you can see.  I have the factory recessed rod holder in the back.

I like those ram mounts. I think I will put one in the front console on my 120 one of these days.

It's a Humminbird Matrix 17.  I bought one when I was down in CA.  I had no complaints about it, so bought another one for a yak up here in WA.  It's reasonably priced, decent resolution, dual beamed with decent power.

I've also seen some decent writeups lately on the Eagle 245.  It's a good budget FF at $99.

Hopefully Charles will chime in here as he sells these things.  Oh Charles!!!

Back to the original question,  Scotty rod mounts can be adapted using plastic cutting board and a machined bracket.  No holes in the boat was my mission.  The bracket pushes the shaped cutting board into the nose of the skirt seal.
Also installed more cutting board below as a shelf and compass mount.  Also, no batteries on this yak.
I do bend the rules on these foggy fall mornings by using bicycle lights so I can be seen.
