I think we put personal pride aside and put forth the best team for NWKA pride.  I won't fish as much this year (baby duty!) as you other guys so I'll gladly place myself on the 2nd team (or 3rd team or 4th team).

BTW, is there any sort of daily limit placed on number of entries?  I'm sure if a couple of us got on a decent bite of blacks, we could fill the 50 fish monthly limit in a day.  That's the biggest bang for your buck.  Or a nice day on the undersized sturgeon bite in the Astoria area could really wreak havoc.  Or a week on the Foggy Bay trip with butts and yelloweyes.  The strategy discussions should be fun.

Sounds good to me. Still trying to decifer all the rules and such. but i think we could do well with 5 prolific fishers on team 1. It's all saltwater too, so that needs to be taken into consideration

Just re-read the rules and there isn't anything about a daily limit of entries but i sent Eric an E-Mail to confirm.

Help me get this straight..  Each team (or is it each angler) gets a set number of entries per species per month.  As long as it meets the minimum size it counts, length after that has no bearing.  So lets say you get into a bunch of black rockfish surface action, in a day catching 20-30 in not out of the realm of possibility,  so you then upload 20-30 pics of that days rockfish and your  almost done with that species for that month.  Same would go for sturgeon, wouldn't have to be legal fish, just photo a day or two worth of shakers once a month for maximum points?  Same thing with lings,  not uncommon to cycle through 5 or more legal fish before you get quality keepers... Other than bonus prizes, size of fish has no bearing on point totals once minimum size is reached?  Since our offshore season is much shorter than other locations  what kind of numbers for each species (realistic) would need to happen to make a team competitive? eg. maxing out salmon each month for instance would be great but not very realistic.

Yup, I think you got the gist of it.  And sounds like we're thinking the same thing w.r.t. strategy.  The top teams scored 10-12K range last year.  With a realistic 6 months season, you're going to need to max out on 3-4 species a month in that timeframe.  Doable?  maybe.  Hard?  certainly.

If so then we need a smallmouth/largemouth killer on the team

This is going to a dedicated team to get out on the water and put a pile of fish in the boat. The goal of hitting a strong ling rock fish bite is on our side. I hope I will be able to put a a full month of Halibut and coho points up in foggy bay. That is 1500 on it's own.

Who are going to be our 5 best guys to consistently put up fish for 6-8 months? Also rules do not state the the fish has to be legal for retention. "Accidental" rock fish and ling cod during Cabezon season would still count for points.

You should get TTM on your team then.  The dude boats lings like crazy.

I don't think cohos are on the list.

Given the scoring system, logistics are going to be incredibly important for a team that wants to win.
There'll be months where filling limits on the low scorers will be the ticket and months were time might be better spent chasing the high scoring limits.  But, you probably don't want all your resources focused on those lower probability fish when some could be filling lower scoring but higher probability limits.
Something to consider for potential members of any team that's shooting for a win is; You'll need to fish for the points that make the most sense.  This will occasionally conflict with the desire to fish for AOTY points or table fish.

- Coho Salmon (minimum length 18" ) - 50 points - MAX 15 per month
On the list .... so are pinks and Kings

I think the strategy of it will be a huge part of the fun of it!

guys i think your best bet bassers would be eobasser and yarjammer along with noggin yakker and pisco sicko to round out the freshwater specialists.
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

Greetings Roy... No prob. This will be the first year we have west coast teams competing, we are very excited. It looks like the official opening of registration may be tomorrow. I encourage you to get some of your other buddies to register teams as well. The more teams we can get for the west, the more prizes I can get for you guys!
