Think they might be allowing cross regional teams in '11. The points might be altered to slightly handicap a cross regional team or something like that. The rules aren't finalized yet, we will have to wait and see.
See ya on the water..

what?! no trout, musky, pike, walleye, lake trout or other fresh water fish allowed on the list? some of those salt water species i'd never heard of, like a "johnny bass".  who set this up ?

go for it guys, and good luck. not much i can do from the desert southwest.

Looks to be a 100% east coast and south coast thing so far Rich, which is foreign to me.. we are gonna have to change that

yeh i think you guys can do a very good job. just rememebr there are a LOT of good fishermen in NORCAL too. would really like to see the west coast step up and clean the easties clocks.
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

Hello fellas,

I am the developer for Kayak Wars....rules are not released yet for 2011 however Freshwater will be allowed.

There will be 3 ways to win in Kayak Wars next year.  Overall saltwater points, freshwater points and total inches of all species.  I can say that much.

Kayak Wars is in the process of migrating to a new server so the rules and new site will be listed here.

http://www.kayakwars.com/
http://www.kayakwars.com/rules.php

Currently its programmed to kick you back to the old site under the extremecoast.com domain.

Glad to finally have some Northwest teams!  Remember the competition is free and if you are already fishing in the AOTY competition you might as well take the same fish and upload them at Kayak Wars for more chances at Prizes.

Thanks
-Rick

Rick,

Can you take yelloweye rockfish off the list?  Only in AK can you retain/target yelloweye and even up there the populations could use a break.  Targeting such a fragile population would not be good PR for a tournament such as yours.

Good call....

If there are any other species that you think should be added or removed or just really don't have much sense being on there let me know and I'll fix it.  I saw the previously mentioned Johnny Bass....That is a type of bass caught near San Diego so that's why its on there.

I guess talking smack is fun enough.
I figure you all will pretty much crush us newbies.
After all, most of us are in Florida and nobody really fishes here.
Form your team(s) and bring it.
(I figured PAC teams would have
had their fill of the SE by now)

You could replace the Yelloweye with greenling.

Mostly we are jealous that you don't need dry suits or have to pick a window to fish between 12 ft swell days!

But our fish taste better so it is OK!

Will there be any 'special competitions' focused towards west coast species?

The 14" min on a greenling is a bit high.  Perhaps lower it to 12?

Yes, at least the Sculpin/Scorpionfish found in SoCal.

It seems most of the species are more available in California.   :-\
