I almost didn't go out due to (pick one) projects, chores, sports, etc.  But this was a salvage and recovery mission for Jay's anchor dangit.  "I have to go honey.  NWKA is counting on me."

With only one lonely frozen "magic" fish for bait, I decided to keep my expectations low.  So to entertain myself, I found an ipod and my good old Bahamas pipe.  "I'll just float around with Kenny Chesney and an old bag of Alder Street Cherry Tobacco, which is a good day all by itself."

The river was still high and brown when I arrived, but not much debris or current.  There was no sign of Jay's bouy (sorry) so I set up shop on "Spot's Ledge."

I thought about digging out the ipod and pipe as soon as the lead hit the bottom, but there's something about staring at the tip of a fishing rod that takes priority over such things.  Good thing too, because 60 seconds into the first set - tap, tap - tap - bendo.

She started weak but woke up and began peeling line.  I dropped off anchor and the sleigh ride was on.  Upriver (they like to do that don't they?), around in circles and then finally in the boat.  I drifted straight back to the anchor, hooked back up and tried to take a few pictures.  "Man I wish someone was around to take a picture of this fish."  I put the tape on her (she was 44) when I saw Jammer cutting a wake upriver toward me.  Perfect timing for some better pictures.

Not long after, Jammer landed a nice fish too.  And after he left, I landed another forty something plus a shaker to end the day.

While my salvage operation didn't pan out, the magic bait came through again, Jammer showed great timing, and I did get to witness thirty or so folks get their Baptism immersions nearby at the beach, which was pretty cool.

Nice fishing and nice report DC!  You definitely have that hole wired.
Let me know if you need another corpse or two.  I've got a bag full in my freezer.

Wow! That's some good times!  Better hurry and get out there before the quota is met by kayaker success rate!!! Nice keepers and keeper pics too.

Has anyone westside used a Safeway trout yet(for bait)?

DC, Jammer,
Nice Dinos! Sounds like it's time for CnR to mean catch and retain!     :blob6:

Thanks for checking on the anchor as well. I'll be replacing it soon and hoping the old one returns some day.   :(

All you have to worry about is the fish flopping out while you pull it out of the back forty.

Nice fishes DC!

Darn.  I was going to go down there, but I had cut a couple big holes  in my kayak for some new flush mounts earlier in the week then got distracted and forgot about them.  I thought I had already bought the mounts, but when I was getting ready on Saturday night, I realized I hadn't :(.   I was a little reluctant to go with a couple 1 inch holes in the deck.   I guess I shoulda grown a pair and tried to catch some sturgeon.
