I saw them twice today, and the State guys stopped to make sure I was releasing my fish.  I had my biggest sturgeon next to the boat when they came.  I should have asked them to take my picture.  The SO Marine Patrol guys went by and said, "I'm sure you have the required licenses and safety gear, right."  I said yes, and they didn't even slow down.  That is efficiency.  To bad the rest of the Multnomah County Government isn't that efficient.  Of course, it may have been Clackamas County.  I didn't pay attention.

It was Clackamas County..  Thats what I meant by them getting along with the local fishermen.  They are not out there busting balls nit picking guys to death.  That said I have seen them turn the lights on in a heartbeat when they see someone boating unsafe or inconsiderately, jet skis >:D.  I'm out on the water 3 or more days a week this time of year, more when the Springers really get here and they swing by and talk to me every day.  I for one like that kind of community policing "hey were all out here together" approach as opposed to  " The Man with no Eyes" (cool hand luke reference ;D) were going to catch you doing something wrong approach.

The Fish and Game guys came pulled up to me and made the statement, "we are just making sure you are going to release that fish" as if I wasn't without their watchful eye.  It kinda pissed me off, but then we talked a bit and they were nice after that.

If anyone happens to see a wht/red bouy with a #1 on it that's attached to extension cord winder and a 12# mushroom anchor, its gonna be mine.
Tight lines!

Mike,
Craig said he spoke to someone that found an anchor the next day. Did you get a call about it?
"Fast enough to get there...but slow enough to see. Not known for predictability"  Thanks to Jimmy Buffet for describing my life...again

No call yet. I was hoping to hear from him yesterday, but no such luck.   I've had to begin reconstructing a new one, but this time using a small inflatable orange buoy, kind of similar  to what you see the pb'ers using, but much smaller. I would love to get it back though. Did he say if it was a red/wht buoy w/ mush anchor? Thanks!

I don't know if the type of anchor was specified. My setup was the same except I used a claw anchor. I've already have a new rig using a mushroom.

He did not describe it to me.  I figure they wanted the person claiming it to be able to describe it.  They did not say what type anchor it was.  If I was smart, I would have gave them my cell phone to call the number right away. Then, if one of you guys could claim it, I could have got it from them and brought it to you.  Unfortunately, I didn't think about it until they were motoring off downstream.
