Does anyone use a windpaddle sail and have any opinion on it?

Looks interesting.  No tacking?  Downwind only, so you have to paddle back upwind?

If its ocean fishing, isn't the wind blowing predominantly towards the shore? If so you would be fresh for the upwind paddle, and could just coast on back home.

and the makers website; http://www.windpaddle.com/

alkasazi's store has fair deals on them. have seen them marked way above their retail.

This has me half way thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these.  It looks easy to use and compact.  Lots of times where I'm covering water between halibut drifts with the wind at my back I wouldn't mind having the option of letting a sail do most of the work.

Yeah these look real interesting, I am just wondering about how often they can really be used. Since it is basically only downwind. I really like how simple and little room they take though. I found one on CL for a little less than new if anyone is interested.

Here's my logic, let me know if my thinking is flawed..  In the summer the winds off the Oregon Coast are mostly out of the North West.   After a days hard fishing, obviously west of the beach and often north of the initial launch site, headed in with a tankwell full of fish and my energy level dropping the wind paddle might work well closing the distance between me and fish cleaning station.  With the Adventure I could use the turbo fins as a dagger board and the rudder for steerage.  Same idea at Buoy Ten, fish down river in the AM and then pick up your gear and head up river using the wind paddle and the afternoon onshore breezes to assist you back to the launch site.

Sounds good to me!

Sail up wind as well as down.

hmmmm. looks like Next Adventure is affiliated with Kuvia....

still cant tell for sure, but does anyone know if the Kuvia sails will block access to the front hatches on the larger SOTs?

and that larger, techier format carries a larger price tag too.
