Visi Carbon Pro

This has to be the coolest setup for a flag I've seen yet.  It is from the same company as The Nothings flag VisiPole.

Seems like it covers all the right issues, from mounts, deployment, uses, and storage.
Might be a tad short for my liking, but cool non the less.

That's a cool flag n light set up.  I have pcv visi pole version and like it a lot.  The carbon break done pole takes it to the next level.

I just picked one of these up for my new Addy, Pretty sweet deal, I wish the pole was a little longer,  the LED light on top is really bright and is advertised to last 100 hrs on a set of batteries.
If it wasn't for flashbacks, I'd have no memories at all.

The pole looks to be just a tent pole.  Does it look like you could swap all the goodies from yours over to a longer tent pole?

It looks like it could be lengthened out pretty easily by adding another section of pole and a longer shock cord.  Looking  at the Yak attack website in the Q&A section they say that they offer replacement parts and parts to customize the Visi Carbon Pro,  pole extensions,  brighter LED light units, and custom flags.  Maybe a NWKA custom screen print flag could be possible in the future.  :o

That's pretty sweet!  I agree with INSAYN, still needs to be longer.  They really were thinking when getting that thing put together though.  I bet that thick foam base fits nice and snug into rod holders - probably what they had in mind but he should have mentioned that in the vid.

I sent an email of to Yak Attack yesterday about the availability and cost of lengthening the pole with one more section.  I received a reply today that they are updating there website and will soon be offering it online, for $12 for the extension kit.  Hopefully mine will be in the mail soon, and I'll get some pictures up after the mod.

That's awesome!   A company that listens to their customers.   :headbang:

After reading the reviews and seeing them first hand at ORC, I pulled the trigger on one of these Visi Carbon Pro light/flags from Yak-Attack (and thanked them for their NWKA sponsorship!).  :icon_thumright:

I have looked at all the various options for mounting them and decided to go with the RAM mount option. After finally getting everything I need, I am now carefully choosing where to mount it on my Trident 13. I would like to hear others opinions that have installed a flag on Particular to the Trident 13. I perceive mounting it forward of the cockpit would get in the way of rod and line and/or paddle strokes. I think I have convinced myself that I would prefer it as far back behind me as possible, yet still be able to reach it for pre/post surf deployment. To mount it behind the seat as I would like- my arms aren't long enough to reach back through the "Rod Pod" to where I would want it to add a backing plate or SS nuts from underneath. I don't trust pop-rivets from  pulling out without some sort of washer or backing. There is no other access back there on the Trident 13. What have others done?

I was going to write up a Review for the front page on these but I see you guys have already discoverd them for yourself.   ;D

Great design!  Portable, configurable and versitile.  What more could you want?

One concern I had with lengthening them is that they are top heavy.  My experience with high end aluminum tent poles is the the reciever for the male ends sometimes stretch allowing it to pop out.  Nice thing is apparently you can buy a replacement.

I posted my quick install on here a while back at:
http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,6143.msg64243.html#msg64243

I will say this.  When I first got it, I was ALL excited about buying every little cool gadget for kayaks out there.  I ordered this got it, then immediately thought to myself..."I paid $80 bucks for a bike flag with a cheapo light on it??  I am going psycho with this kayak thing!!!"

But now that I have used it for several months, I can say it is one of the best things I have bought for my kayak.  The ease of set up, ease of take down, own storage bag, nice light, helps judge wind direction and speed.  I never think about it which is exactly what I want from a functional piece of equipment.  It works every time, easily, has a purpose plus some.

I used a Scotty mount on my mini-x and right now it fits perfectly into my Hobie Rod flush mount rod holders.  Although in the mount it becomes lower and angled so it makes the height issue even more important.  Still a billion times better than not having a flag.

I highly recommend it!!!!  Not that I have tried the 10 dollar bike flags, but this works way to well and I expect it will last virtually forever.  Hey, how about a NWKA logo flag!

Next Adventure just setup YakAttack as a vendor, so you will be seeing the visi-pole at the shop in the next few weeks.

If you're looking to mount a RAM ball for the Visi Carbon Pro I would just use pop rivets to attach it to the deck.  The RAM ball mounts have holes for using three or four pieces of mounting hardware.  Use the holes appropriate for four pieces and a drill bit of size 3/16".   That should be plenty if you're just using the ball mount for a flag pole.

I'm glad to hear that!  Hopefully you guys are pushing them to the touring crowd.  I've had lots of touring yakkers swing by just to check out my $10 bike flag.  I've also heard lots of PB'ers rant about not being able to see the "stupid kayakers".  I think the technical aspects of the Visicarbon would really appeal to the rather gentile paddling community. (No disrespect intended)

You have a point kiwanda.  If you're $$ limited and you don't launch before 1st light or stay out till after sunset, there's no reason to spend $80+ on a safety flag.  The bike flags will keep you just as safe on a crowded river.
