....if the forecast holds, I'm thinking of hitting the salt on Sunday too..

Who is up for fishing tomorrow Sunday???

WHO, WHEN AND WHERE???

I'll be at Depoe tomorrow.  Plan on being there around 8:00AM.  You're welcome to join.

-Spot-

Is it a good day for someone that hasn't been any saltier than the bays to give the open ocean a try?

craig,  check out the nws bar camera at depoe bay. that's probably what you will see tomorrow. it always comes down to just being their and making the call yourself. keep in mind the forecast has been know to change or they just f....ed it up. sounds like one thing for sure, there should be some expert hand to go with for a first timer

Thanks.  Its looking doubtful now.  I just found out I have family in town from the east coast that want to see us tomorrow around noon.  I may just try some trout fishing locally and try to get out there this week if people are still going out.

If the forecast stays good for the week, I'm going to shoot for a Thursday, Friday, or even Saturday morning launch at either PC, or Depoe.

New plans for the "ceremonial fish bat".. I need to get off my butt and get it in play.  The idea is it will be the "Monster Ling Trophy". To be passed around to folks who present a yak caught documented ling 40" or over (aoty style measurement required).  In Oregon/Washington/Cali waters that is a darn good ling and worthy of trophy status.
The way it will work:  catch a ling 40" or over, photo/measure document it on NWKA, then the "Ling Bat" gets sent your way.  You hold onto it in a place of honor :D (not for actual on water use) until the next angler boats a 40 and you mail it off to them.  I need to throw together a card or small record book that will accompany it in which you could sign/date/details and maybe attach a pic to before it gets passed.   So go find those big lings!

Monday and Thursday are out for me due to morning therapy appointments for elbow problems.  Paddling really doesn't bother me, but golf is out.  It's going to be my excuse for a Hobie i12.  Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday are potentially doable.

It's looking more like Friday, as DTS needs Thurs to install his new rod holder(s) on his Revo.   Are you looking more towards Depoe Bay (easy launch), or can you punch a surf wave or two with your elbow at PC?

If conditions hold, I will be at Depoe Bay Friday morning at 8am.

I will try either.  I have a helmet for the surf since my wood boat doesn't have the same "give" as a plastic boat.  I don't need another concussion. :P  The elbow is fine for paddling.   It only hurts doing certain things.  Structurally, the elbow is ok.  There are no tears.  Supposedly, it's just scar tissue flaring up.    It's been like that for 2 years.

Also, both places are both about the same distance from Tualatin, so wherever you guys decide, Friday should work for me.

Depoe is the plan at this point.  Sounds like another small brigade of kayaks could emerge on Friday if Goldendog joins us too.  All the merrier!
