I went out tonight at 6pm. I was looking out my window at the bay and noticed the wind had stopped and the water was glassy. It was spur of the moment but im glad i went. Got 8 or 9 fish in about 2 hours. One lingcod that was a little too small, but i got to use my lip grippers for the first time. I also caught some weird fish i haven't seen before. It was a fat little thing about 10 inches with lots of spikes. Sculpin?  The other 6 or so were blacks. I kept the two largest ones, about 16 inches.

There were a bunch of little fish jumping in the kelp. I started casting into the middle of them and catching the blacks. Unfortunately it got dark and I had to paddle back.

Had a really good time. I've fished sunset a few times before and never caught anything.

I might go again tomorrow evening if the weather cooperates.

Good job, I went early and the fish just weren't biting. I struggled to catch one fish..what part of sunset did you fish?

I might go tomorrow evening if the wind stays down, give the evening bite a try.

I fished the southern part. Near where the other little cove is. Along the edge of the kelp bed. I would paddle to the opening of the cove, and the current would slowly take me out towards the ocean. When i moved about 100 yards, i would paddle back in and let it take me out again.

Question....

Anyone know if Cabbies, or Lings would take a Sculpin if used as bait?
