Ndogg and myself hit the middle Willy around 10ish today on the hunt for some Springer meat. After meeting up at a favorite launch spot near my home in Milwaukie, Nate and I pushed off and started our quick trek upstream to one of my favorite shelfs nearby. We had just settled into our first troll along the shelf and had just started answering some of the usual questions we sometimes get from the inquisitive PB'ers when it hit. I didn't hit too hard at first, almost feeling like my cannonball was hung up on a rock, but quickly changed to bump bump with head shakes and the race was on. It was not an extremely long fight as my first Springer of the year wasn't the biggest bruiser I've ever battled with a length of just under 27", but what the hell,  finally my first Springer of 2011. Dinner tonight was awesome!!!! Thanks Nate for hanging out and good luck tomorrow.
Cheers

Awesome grilling. Served it up to my family with a white wine butter sauce with fresh ginger and soy, steamed spinach with fresh garlic and a pine nut couscous. Off the hook!! Now jammer wants more. Call me crazy, but it sure was nice to see some salmon blood on the yak again. The river is still a tiny bit high but really cleared up nice. I may need to sneak back out for a couple hours after all of this Easter morning excitement.
It's on guys!!!! Cheers!

Great job... way to get after em'.  I was only about 1/4 mile upstream of you all day.  Plenty of boats on the water for sure.  I had one keeper and one native for a LONG day of fishing.  Its only going to get better from here out!

Awesome!  I'm jealous.  ;D
Way to flex your springer mojo Jammer.  I'd be bummed that I missed out if I hadn't had such a fun day surfng with my kids.

I slept thru my alarm this morning but I'll be out in search of mine shortly.

Glad to hear it did  not get cooked in the sun.  My early start did not happen today, but I will be out there soon.

Nice work!

It was a zoo in the downtown area.  I couldn't believe how many people were out walking/running/biking on both sides of the river.  There was a lot of boat traffic too.  Some friendly PB'ers gave me some weights when I realized I left mine at home.  No love from the fishies for me but weather was amazing!!
