I ended up hitting the Willy again late last night following my sons Soccer awards dinner. I didn't make it down to the water until close to 7:30, but very glad I made it. I picked up my personal biggest Springer "EVER" at 39.25" and 22.5lbs. I picked her up on the shelf using my go-to prawn spinner, but went with a small white blade w/chartreuse colored tip. It seemed to be the color that was working, because she hit about 10 minutes into my first troll. She was not giving up easy, as she kept rising to the surface and thrashing violently. I'd say she got me pretty wet. I love the expressions and comments I hear from some of the older guys. Its pretty funny. I don't think they realize that I can hear pretty much everything they say. Its priceless!
Get out there guys!!! Even if you only have an hour or two, its worth it!
Cheers!

Nice hog.
I was on the river during the middle of the day and took a nice 31" fish home.  I also heard the bite was hot in the early AM with an unidentified kayaker limiting out pretty quick.  Like Jammer said get out there guys, there are plenty of fish to be had.

You sir, are THE fish killer!!! WTG!  :headbang:
So you going to start nailing the tails to the side of your yak and telling us that you caught it on a jointed Rapala?

Is that little wack on her (his?) scales just in front of the dorsal fin from another close encounter with the drive again? That's got to pretty scary! :o

Nice job Nate! You've become one hell of Salmon Slayer.. The kayaker who limited yesterday is Jeffro(Nwka). He called me in the morning yesterday to let me know that he limited in 1.5 hours. Its getting nuts out there...

Saw a yaker (in a tan hobie) launch out of Cedar Oak boat ramp about 8ish yesterday.  Wish I could have chatted with him but he never came within earshot of the boat.  Jammer you may see me down your way this evening >:D ;D

:headbang::hello2:  You guys are killin em this year!   :hello2: :headbang:

Ironically, I've been trying to get the local yak fishers to target these beauties for years and now that it's really taking off as a yak fish, I can't seem to catch one....  Oh well, at least I have other people's fish porn to keep me stoked.  ;D

Ironically, I spent years trying to target these beauties without catching one and now I'm finding it nearly impossible to find the time to get out.  I may just have to bail on the family and ask forgiveness after the fact (catching a springer would help with that).

I gave my springer skills a whack on Sunday morning for about 3 hours with no luck. I rigged up with some fresh prawn spinners, but didn't see a single yak on the water from Hawthorne bridge down to Powers bridge at Staff Jennings. I ended up launching at the latter. Lots of power boats, but didn't see a single fish caught. I later realized you all were probably at Alder Creek! had a fun paddle anyway...

Jammer dude! You got the Mo-Jo! I wish I could join you and school me on how its done!

At gas at over $4 a gallon its about a $100 bill round trip for me in my full size truck to Portland! :sad6:

Great fish! We won't have any chinook running up here for awhile yet. Pretty envious...

I was below the Sellwood today 5/10 and fished for three hours with no luck. (Jammer and Ndogg seem to have the touch).  Fished Prawn spinners with no luck.  A gentlemen trolling herring said that he had caught 7 fish in the last four days.  He was pulling just a herring at 20 ft.  Hope that helps.

Some nice fish there gentlemen!

Our season is just getting going.  The main push of first run kings is still 2 to 3 weeks off for us here in southcentral Alaska.  But then it should be non stop action till October or later in various waters!

Worked the R.I. stretch and saw a few taken, no love for me though.  Even broke out to pro cure scent and oops, it is sticky.  Tomorrow is a new day :)
