Official ORC 2011 Beer Thread

hey PolePole, I can make a beer run and p/u kegs, I'm assuming I'm going to Newport?. I also have one clean rubbermaid brute trashcan I keep clean for stuff like this. If you do mini kegs, somebody else needs to bring a tub or can to keep additional ones cold.

A beer discussion probably deserves its own thread!!!

Do we have a contact at Rogue?  Or is anyone local and able to go talk to them in person?  This is what their website says about donations.  It sounds like a personal touch would help.

Back in 1988, Rogue rented a space in Newport, Oregon to start brewing beer. Mo Niemi rented to us on 2 conditions: we put a naked picture of her in the pub, and we agree to “take care of the fisherman.”

Mo believed that when times were hard you took care of your own, and then when times were good they’d take care of you. In addition to making World Class Products in World Class Packages, Rogue continues the tradition of giving that began in 1988.

 

Some things to know before you call, e-mail, or send a letter:

Know Rogue, be a Rogue Nation member, have a favorite Rogue.

Even better - have a brass nameplate at the bar, know the name of a bartender, have a dog in your family who actually met Brewer.

Rogue doesn’t do cash sponsorship.

Rogue doesn’t care about having a banner at an event.

Rogue doesn’t do checkbook charity.

Rogue does want to help David throw stones at Goliath – bigger isn’t always better.

Madoc is a Rogue Nation member (but I don't think he's going to make the tourney), FishSniffer used to have a contact there.

I met Brewer, and John a few times. Favorite Rogue is I2PA, but will gladly accept a DG. They can have a banner if they want, what do we care, should be plenty of traffic at the boat ramp.

Who was it who said they could pick up a keg at Rogue if I ordered one?

Dead Guy is probably the most popular Rogue beer on the market. 
The Captain Sig's Northwestern Ale seems somewhat appropriate.
Personally, I'm a hop head and like IPAs and double IPAs.


Funnigan also mentioned that if Rogue doesn't work out for us, that he might have a good beer connection.

I'm a hop head myself so will lean that way too unless the masses say otherwise.

If we end up doing Rogue I would like to give this one a go.  Dead Guy is also a great choice though.

I'm probably going to bring a few bombers (22 oz bottles) of home brew and locally brewed hop bombs.

I also joined Rogue Nation.. they took over a pub here on campus so it's probably a good deal.

If Rouge falls through there is always the Pelican Brewery in PC.  Its been a few years but from what I can remember they had some tasty brews.  Might be worth a call since they are right at a Dory Launch and  located in a small fishing village, they might be eager to make connections and support local events
