Thanks for the update Noah. Looks like Snopro has a double entry that needs fixed, or we can just leave it  ;)
Corrected, thanks :)

The coho was in stealth mode.

Wish I could find one like yours Merz.  I CnR through 31 of them in two days to find one over 30".   Tons of fun but definitely quanity over quality size wise.

The coho were huge on the Coos this year. I only fished for them one evening after work. Caught 8 and only one was under 30".  I cant seem to find a decent chinook though. Good job taking the lead. Will be hard to beat.

If you have time drive up to Tillamook this weekend.  Caught 2 chrome ones in the upper 30s about ten days ago.  I'm sure there are still a few around.

Love that place.... other than the smell.

Way to go Brian, I saw a lot of fish on the Wilson last week but that bay water looked so tempting I was wondering if it was still producing. Nothing better than bright salmon right outta the salt. I was back at the Klick yesterday & almost everyone was catching coho w a couple chinook here & there. 18# King on coon spinner 16# & 14# Cohos on hoochie spinners.

Merz, some 5#+ bows stocked at Bradley lately. Not sure that would do it for you.

This contest's getting exciting now.

Great job Hugh.  If that was Monday I must have just missed you.  Fished from 3 to dark.  Both Whites and the Klick have been amazing this season.

Those are much larger coho than I've been getting.  Maybe the B runs are finally showing up in force.  Way to pull out a late king.  Going to give it another shot soon.

My current bow is my highest scoring fish. Going to be really hard to beat.

Happy to pass the torch. I've sent my congrads to Snopro prior to his 10th fish and fully expect Merz to zip past. If you want to win you need to target points fish early and often.

Wow!  Congrats to all those still in the race.  I have a hard time seeing a path to ten fish entry that has a shot.  But it's mainly due to my current fishing patterns and people counting on me to fill freezers.  I'll need a big King (Kodiak), decent laker (la ke Louise) and a ling cod and rockfish (couple hour water taxi ride) to even come close.

Hmmmm.....it can be done.   I'll have to think about this some more.

Good luck to everyone in the final stretch!

It's fun to be in it even at the JV level. It really would take some hard work to be at the top of the list or even near the top of the list.

I was thinking about AK and AOTY the last time I was out fishing while waiting for a bite.  On Kodiak we caught dollies/AC to the upper 20"s. It doesn't look like any are entered from AK.  Easy points.

If I was back in AK and wanted to do well in AOTY I'd focus on the five salmon, dollies, grayling, lakers, halibut, lings, and yellow eye/canary rockfish we can't target down south.  Those 11 should bring you into the 1800s fairly easily.  If you know a spot where you can keep large rainbow and steelhead the count goes to 13.

Of the fish you mention lings and rockfish require a water taxi for the most part to catch. Also lings have a much larger minimum size in this area. Lakers are 5 hours away one way for anything over 5 pounds. Grayling would require a LOT of work (that's ok) or further driving. Red salmon is tough from a kayak though Kenai_guy has done it.

But these are just excuses that can be overcome. It's more my yearly schedule.  I think people think I'm joking a bit when I say I meat fish 90% of the time. I guess maybe I am since really I meat fish 95% of the time.

But that's the beauty of AOTY is the ten fish requirement requires some thought and fishing species that are typically outside of people comfort zone.  I support the format completely.

I'm just thinking out loud. I entered a couple of times a few years back. Lost interest when I missed the window of opportunity for a few species.

I'm afraid to enter because I'm the type that if I got serious, it would become an obsession.  That means less fish in the freezers for my family and my parents. Or even more time fishing which would be a strain on my family.

Hmmmm....Wheels are turning!!!!!!  I know Kenai_guy has done some planning. Fortunately for the rest of the field, he hunts as much as he fishes.
