I'm wondering if anyone has any information and/or suggestions for fishing the Centeral Oregon Lakes. I've got the week to myself (no wife or kids) so I was contemplating fishing Crane Prairie, Davis, Wickiup etc. I'll be going this weekend Thursday thru Sunday. Heck, may do a tour if things aren't happening at whichever body of water I decide... Anyone been fishing over in that region lately and gracious enough to share some insights on the fishing report and conditions? Thanks in Advance - Yokut

Diamond Lake is putting out some good sized trout this year. Been seeing several reports on other local fishing forums.

They have opened the keep limit to 8 on Diamond Lake because there are too many fish! The Kokankee are hot there as well as at Crescent. Lemolo is another that is producing well for German Browns. Send me a PM as I may be hitting the cascade lakes as well this weekend. When I was on Wikieup over Memorial weekend there were some fish caught out of my group, but none of them by me :embarassed:

Been talking to a few guys and Crane has been a bit slow so far this year.  But it's picking up if you know how to fish it don't think it's ever been hot hot like other lakes lol.  They all use bait which I can't stand.  I have my own system for crane which was producing 5-7lb fish last year ;-).  But if you're after the biggest rainbows in the state it's still the place to go.  Several fish over 15lbs have came out of there so far this year and they aren't the ugly deformed brooders a lot of people find else where.

I'll be heading to Crane, Wiki, and Davis for 10 day end of the month.  I'd be interested in how you do.

So I'm a little lost I guess... where's Diamond Lake? I only know of the one down in southern OR. Can anyone give me some general directions?

Head south on I-5 to Roseburg.  Turn east on 138 and dodge wild turkeys.  Diamond lake is off 138.  If you hit a big crater full of water, you have gone to far. ;D http://maps.google.com/maps?q=diamond+lake,+oregon&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x54c64fdf51825dfb:0x9f1cc47841cfa7d3,Diamond+Lake&gl=us&ei=1A8ATpTiNJK-sAOR_9i6DQ&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CCYQ8gEwAA

Oh I'm always around lurking in the shadows ready to bite whatever is wiggled in front of me.  Been working to much to pay for my high end rod and reel addiction.

So far my weekends have been getting used up filling my halibut tag on the Rock Pile.

You'll never catch me at diamond lake too many bad experiences as a kid.  Swarms of mosquitoes that blot out the sun, their humming so loud you have to shout over them, having to wear a scarf over my face just to breath lol.   Ya not going back.  I have caught several trout over 20" out of the creek there.
