Having missed out on ORC I'm dying to get out this weekend. Anyone else heading out? I'd prefer to not head out on my own if possible but I was leaning toward Depoe Bay on Saturday or Sunday. I've hit the salt a couple of times but am still a bit of a newbie. I have a VHF, airhorn, safety flag, PFD, wetsuit, etc and can keep myself out of trouble. Conditions are looking pretty good other than a little wind kicking up around noon.

I am game!  I will have to clear it with my after hours boss, though.  I need some more AOTY points and an upgrade to my ling cod.  I recently discovered that the more I fish, the more I need to fish.

Sweet! Let me know if you get the pass for Saturday or Sunday. Either would be fine with me, although Saturday might be slightly easier.

I'm planning on hitting DB at least 1 day this weekend. Let me know which day(s) and I'll adjust accordingly.

I am thinking about it - weather permitting.  I haven't been out but last Sat - had a great time.   Very new to kayaking and just getting outfitted.

Thanks

Okay, turns out Sunday won't work for me, so I will at at Depoe Bay Saturday morning, probably around, 7:00, hoping to launch by 730.  LittleFred, Wannabe you guys down? Do you have radios?

Weather is looking great!

Yup, Saturday's OK. Probably won't be there until 8:15 or so, though.

I'll call on channel 16.

Call on 69. 16 is for coast guard only. I'll just be out by the bouy. Orange boat, orange safety flag, red PFD.

Just walked to the end of the street and it's looking good.  Magic Seaweed says it's only getting better!  I'm thinking lunch fish today.

Unless the  protocol has changed recently, this is a common misconception. Channel 16 is reserved for emergencies, safety announcements and also for conversations with the CG, but is also reserved, along with channel 9, to make initial contact between boats before switching to one of the recreational channels.

Either way, if you're monitoring 69 I'll call you there if I can't get a visual on you.

See you out there.
