Almost 3 years of yak fishing and I've learned so much from others mistakes.  I have yet to lose any gear by huli or droppage but seen many others do so.  Well yesterday I was inside my rod pod rooting around.  Been running the new and improved lid for 6 months and love it.  Except.... when I installed it I forgot to tether it to the yak...  I can tell you with a scotty rod holder and extended arm attached, the lid doesn't float.   Bye bye $140 lol.

Something to remember when installing new hardware or hatches.  And of course as always tie off anything of value.  If anyone downstream from Salem finds one of the new lids send it back this way if you would ;-)
It's never too late to start procrastinating.

Ouch, that hurts.  I was lucky with my X-Factor.  The hatches on that boat certainly do not float but I never managed to kick one over the side while I was on the water.  I heard of people doing it though.

I think I heard this collective "ohhhhhhhhhhh" when I read that line. Hate it when that happens.:angry3:

Thanks for reminding me to make sure that strap that holds the front hatch to the Hobie is buckled though. :icon_thumright:
