To peddle or not to peddle

Man you guys and gals are great.  I pick and choose the forums I join and after doing some reading and then joining I got the help and insight I was hoping I would get.  Now its just about putting the dough together to get everything set up and make my final decision on which sot to go with.  Give me some time and I'll be be bothering anyone that lives close about hitting the pond.  By the sounds of it I shouldn't have any problems finding a few fishing partners to enjoy the water with.

Peddles are were it's at for the ocean and trolling, for lakes and rivers the paddle works fine. 

After all those glowing Hobie reviews, there is one caveat that no one mentioned.  The mirage drive Hobies are a lot less stellar in water less than a foot deep. In less than 18" of water you have to pull out the paddle and/or short stroke the pedals. The fins won't hinder you much as they fold flat against the bottom of the hull. It's just that you can't use the drive as effectively.

That's not really much of an issue in the great pacific northwest, but it definitely comes into play fishing the flats here in Florida where the water may be 8" deep for a mile or two.
