Was supposed to head out to Union for some chum action last week but w/ the sucky weather that fell through. If anyone's down for the trip wouldn't mind heading out to the Union area this weekend for some chums. Huntin'Hick has reported some good action out there. Anyone game?

I'll be back in town the weekend after this one.  Chums should be in thick in most places by then.  So let's plan on hitting it then.  In the meantime ... enjoy your weekend and may you hook up with your first chum, and may it be a bright one.  My chum season last year ran from last weekend in October until the first weekend in December.  Actually I caught a late season chum out of the Nisqually some time in December I think.  All of that fishing was bank fishing the creeks, so I'm anxious to knock some off the kayak (and on the fly!).  Just thinking about this day in the picture below gets my heart pumping ... we were continuously hooked up for 4 hours straight.  Late season though, mostly dark fish.

Z,

We are planning on heading out Saturday and sunday morning around first light depending on the weather.  if there is not much wind we will launch at the public morage in hood sport and fish from there past the hatchery then back again.  if we launch out of union we will hit the mouth of the tahuya river.

another thing to think about on the canal is that a little more weight might be a good idea.  the daughter and I where using bobber rigs with sliding floats and a bullet weight.  but the wind came up a bit and it was pushing us fast enough that the anchovies would be dragged up close to the surface, figured that out when the seagulls started spooling abouve the bait.  we are going to take some 1,2,3 and 4 ounce mouching weights the ones that you can remove by pulling out to wires so we can switch as needed.

Z,

I will try to see if I can talk the daughter into it,  she is pretty set on the hatchery though, she has had a good year there and is eager to keep it going.  time do you plan on being on the water?
