I am going camping with my family this weekend (Fri-Sun) and was wondering about the fishing around Honeyman state park south of Florence.  Is anyone going to be near there fishing in case I am able to sneak away for a bit?  Also, does anyone have any info on good "kid" fishing nearby (trout, panfish).  I see there are several lakes in the area, but I am not familiar with any of them.

Thanks in advance for any info.

-Craig

Goldendog is your man.
He's your "local" for that area and should be full of good bits of info on what to fish for, where and how.

Goldendog is the local kayak fisherman I'd send him a pm.
Siltcos lake is real close to honeyman which I've caught some nice perch out this year and cby (Roy) caught his small cutthroat trout there also.

Craig, I would be glad to show you around. I think Yaksurf meant Woahink, where he and CBY caught those huge 13 inch perch. I haven't ever caught one that big! Cleawox is located in the park next to the campground, and Woahink across the hwy. Cleawox has a nice fishing pier for the kids to use, and is also a great lake to swim in off of the sand dunes. I'll pm you my contact info.

Thanks.  I will get ahold of you.  I would love to get into some perch.  I think the kids would love it.

Craig and I hit Woahink for a couple of hours this morning. Fishing was slow, but we managed to catch a few perch. The weather was perfect!

It was fun, but I sunburned my legs. :'(  I knew I packed sunscreen for a reason.
Here is a short video of Dave in an epic battle with a cutthroat.  Thanks again for taking me out to one of your honeyholes and getting me some more AOTY points Dave.

Sorry about the lack of zoom. It needs to be watched in full screen to even see the fish. All I had for a camera was my GoPro.  For some reason my wife did not let me take the new one I bought her to replace the one I dropped in the Willamette last week. Go figure ::).  I thought marriage was about trust.

I have the sandal stripes on my feet now.  Why does sunburning the tops of the feet always hurt the worst.
