Got one of these about 3 months ago in the 15.75"x9.5"x42" size and am really happy with it so far. I got it because I really wanted to take better care of my catch. The ability to keep fish out of the sun and better yet, on ice is really appealing.

The shape is perfect for the tankwell of the Adventure and would probably fit most yaks. You can mount it other places but is pretty convenient behind the seat. Some people who use a big crate back there would have to get creative. It not only has a velcro/zipper opening at the end but also a velcro opening on top. Really nice when you want to get in and out quickly. It comes with a dry bag insert but cuts down the capacity considerably. I ditched it since I don't mind my fish getting wet or fish ooze getting on the bag. Holds a WA limit of rock fish with 2 decent lings and definitely will take care of your salmon needs. A big reason why I wanted this.

What's really nice is the bag really keeps in the cold. After being on the water for 5 hours the gel ice packs are still solid and get back to the car with chilled fish. Major bueno!

The tool pockets are pretty useless but sure you can repurpose them somewhere else. One thing I'm watching out for is the zipper. They usually corrode w/ saltwater use and then jam shut. So far so good though.

It is kinda spendy retail at $67.95 but there are some good deals out there. $47 shipped @ Boater Barn: http://www.boaterbarn.com/precisionpak_yak_catch_3_lg_32551_prd1.htm

Zee?,
Wire handle at the large end? can't tell from pics either here or on the linked page.
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

I think that's just the flap from the end open that you're seeing. It closes really snugly and stays put.

Zee, I'd suggest Corrosion-X applied to the zipper once in a while.  It does a great job of blocking the predatory nature of salt on everything I've used it on.  But, if you can't locate Corrosion-X or don't want to bother ordering it online, the next thing I'd suggest would be di-electric grease. Just squease it under the slider and run it up and down the zipper to distribute.

Nice find.  Thanks for the review.  At 42" it should swallow most URBs and B runs, something my KatchKooler struggles to do.  Wish I would have saved my $$ for the YakCatch.

What kind of ice packs are you using?

I have both that bag and the Seattle Sports equivalent. I feel like the Seattle Sport bag is far better construction. I really like the Velcro openings and drains on Precision Pak, but the liner that comes with it isn't much tougher than a kitchen garbage bag. I threw a few flounder in it the first time I had it on the water, and they damn near tore through. The Seattle Sports is better built, the liner is damn near puncture proof, and the fish hauling capacity is slightly larger.

The Seattle Sport version also has clip-on straps for attaching the bag to the deck of your yak.

Is there a larger Seattle Sports model than the 36"?  9" x 13" x 36"

YakCatch3 9.5" x 15.75" x 42"

I stand corrected. Mine is the Precision Pak YakCatch 2, not 3. As far as I know the 36 is the largest of the Seattle Sports bags. They are very close in size, but the SS doesn't taper as quickly giving it a little more capacity.

Based on the recommendations and reviews in this thread and a bit more online research I ordered a YakCatch3 off Amazon for about $40.

It fits PERFECTLY on the bow of my Revo.   Some of you may remember I installed bungee lacing, buttons, and padeyes on the bow of my Revo to replace the stock hatch bungees.

http://www.demonick.com/kayak/HMR/Bow.Bungee.Lacing/HMR.Bow.Bungee.Lacing.html

The clips on the YakCatch3 match up perfectly with the padeyes on the Revo, and the open end of the YakCatch3 extends to the mast hole for easy access.  Using just the 4 bow end clips securely anchors the bag, but still lets me lift the open end of the bag and access the bow hatch if needed.

Thanks for the review.  It looks like a great product.  Can't wait to get it bloody.

I also picked up some TechniIce.  Weird, interesting stuff.

I have been using one for the last few trips out on the salt.  Could not be happier! Blows my old Seattle Sport bag out of the water.   With a little rigging it rides secure in the tank well of my adventure with no problems.  Today I hulied in the surf with it on with a 10-12 lb silver inside plus 3 sheets of techni ice.  It stayed in place even though the yak completely rolled, no water snuck inside and the fish was nice an cold.   A few days ago we stored live crabs in it while on the water with no damage (to the crabs or the bag). I was worried pinchers might be hard on the inside fabric but it was fine.   So far I recommend it with no reservations.  Time will tell how it wears with heavy use.
