I will be making a day trip to Westport on Sunday to hit the lings and black rockfish. ~12 CnR'ed fish last time I went out including some massive (20"+) rockfish and numerous legal lings.

Wind and swell look nice and calm. However, the current will be strong. Launch at Half Moon Bay. Any one interested in coming along?

Got out much later than expect and the current was really strong today. However, lots of black rockfish including nice 18-19" specimens.

At the South Jetty tip there was schools of small baitfish (perch?) boiling on the surface. The pelicans and other seabirds were jgoing nuts eating the small fish.

My 2 oz. jig was too light for the current in terms of jigging but I would cast towards the incoming current, retrieve quickly and get hit by a rockfish nearly every cast. The current was pulling into breaking/confused waves in the bar, I needed to go full power on the adventure to overpower it!

Unfortunately no pics. Don't know how I could have snapped photos without getting nailed by the breakers in the bar :(.  Will bring the GoPro next outing.

Besides the current in the Grays Harbor bar, which can be a serious PITA, I always enjoy it out there if only for the absurd amount of Pelicans!
