Kayak friendly launch sites.

I was thinking of trying George Rogers park next, but I seem to remember that parking is a bit tight there. Is it pretty easy to find a parking spot and get to the water?

George Roger's park is actually not a difficult launch.  The LAUNCH is actually very easy thanks to gravity.  It's the return trip back up that sux.  I have always found a decent parking spot there and there are a lot of good fishing opportunities nearby.  But then again, it is the Willamette and it seems there are good opportunities everywhere.  I launch there more than anywhere else due to the proximity of my house.

I find Google Earth is a great help in finding launch sites. I look for roads near water, and start searching for turnouts that indicate cars have parked there Often, you can then spot trails down to the river's edge, which indicate a possible launch site.

Nice job pelagic...That's a wealth of information on the Willamette. I live in Vancouver Washington as an adult these days, but as a river rat of a kid (early 70's), grew up on the Willamette, between Wallace Marine Park in East Salem and Spong's Landing, all via intertubes Thanks for the input.

Wow, Salem HAS grown since the 70s.  Wallace Marine park is now in WEST Salem.  Kidding, CastIron.  I grew up there, too, and still enjoy a good float north out of Wallace.
