Sound good!!! This time was my first time launching from the private marine beside east sooke park.  Good launch and not too far from the fishing grounds. I thinks there's some good tides end of July!!!  Still hunting for a trophy chinook!!!!

i caught a beauty at the trap shack on Monday in my power boat--a reel screamer--but it was a 95 cm wild. it killed me to throw it back, not because I had to release it but because it had swallowed the kitchen sink spoon i was using down to its tonsils and was bleeding like a stuck pig. Had to be over 30 lbs. We'll get one out of the yak this year for sure!

Oh man!  what a heartbreaker.  At least you got a good fight out of it, not a complete waste.

Went to becher bay 7-9 after work.  Out of 10 boats only saw 2 fish caught. I got one monster sized rockfish. Tsquared we should get a fishing trip set up.  Im going out this weekend, weather and tides permitting

I'll see about this weekend--I have to spend 1 day getting our power boat ready for a 4 day trip to Renfrew next week but I may be able to get out for a day. It would be great to get out with you. I'll send you a pm with contact info.

We like to get out to Swiftsure Bank every day that the weather is good while we are there--it's crazy good fishing BUT we have to take our boat into the mechanics tomorrow as the cooling system is acting up. Hope it doesn't screw up our trip. There's another good reason to love kayak fishing--there's no motor attached! :)

Sorry hillier, I just now saw your post.10:30 pm Saturday night. Renfrew was good. We got out to Swiftsure the first 2 days for our limit in teener springs and halibut, (well, just springs on the 2nd day as my brother turned an interesting shade of green after an hour or so in the big tidal lump. We caught 6 springs in 1 1/2 hours and then went in) and then topped up Thursday and Friday with ground fish and some pinks closer to shore. I am in the middle of brining/smoking 6 sides of spring salmon tonight and tomorrow, so I can't wet a line with you . Do you work all week? I'm on summer holidays so I'm flexible--maybe next weekend if you can't go this week.

Well done hillier! Now that you've got one more will follow! Sounds like Becher bay is the place to be to stay out of the westerly and fog. I'll be home on Monday and will try and get out after that.

6 fish today from muir to sheringham pt.  3 wild coho, 2 feeder springs and a pink. I missed the bite for large springs by about an hour but it was a great day to be on the water.

Fished Otter this morning in the yak. Got a nice spring on screaming line out so I reefed the sail and turned to follow it away from the beach and tried to wave 2 guys off in a 17.5 Double Eagle going west but it was too late and the fish was tangled on their rigger. So i turned to follow them west still yelling and they realized what was going on and brought their gear up. My fish was still on but was hopelessly tangled with their line and rigger so they netted it and dropped it into my net. After we untangled I told them shallow at 2nd rock. As one of them said--the fish is in the boat and that's what matters! Passed them later and they got one in the same spot. Good karma comes through. By the time I got squared away i was off the point and the tide was ripping too much for me, so called it a day. The spring was 30 " long--maybe 20 lbs--did part of it up for supper for 5 of us.
