 I'd seen Stick Jackets previously at Gander Mt. and I refused to pay $10 bucks a pop for them.
So in my pursuit of finding it cheaper, I bought a roll of this plastic sleeve. It's a tad sticky-er  than the Stick Jacket, but it still does an EXCELLENT job covering guides.

If you have ever stowed or tried to remove an uncovered rod from the inside of your hull, you'll appreciate the value a rod condom to cover the guides. In fact I'd say if your paddling anything other than an OK boat with a rod pod, it's practically impossible to get a rod in or out of the hull without catching a guide. Another advantage is they don't hold water, so you can leave it on and not worry about corrosion.

You can have any color you want as long as its red. A six foot length will cover pretty much any rod (your only covering the guides)  I think I have enuf for about 30. $6 plus a $1 shipping. I think shipping should get less if you want more than 3.

Okay, I'm frickin new here so cut me some slack. You chose to single out my first yak I just bought (an OK Trident T-11 with a rod pod) and now I'm wondering what you meant by, "In fact I'd say if your paddling anything other than"? Are you saying its good or bad? I haven't even launched it yet and am already getting a complex.   ???
And what about this Rod Condom....are they available ribbed for her pleasure?  ;D Great Forum and Thanks to all who keep it afloat.

He is saying that the OKs with the rod pod have great below deck rod storage. Don't worry, OKs are great boats.

Guys,
even with an OK's cavernous interior storage, these are still a good idea. I cant count how many times i've snagged a guide pulling a rod from under deck on other things i've stashed there. so it takes an extra minute to pull it off or on, in the end it's worth it.

Sorry,
 too much jargon (again) ::)

(note that I changed the name to protect the innocent)

I'm big into simple (not complex) ;D

Although I'd NEVER talk bad about your wife/girl friend, your boat is fair game >:D

That said, I actually like your boat! :icon_thumright:  That "Rod Pod's" oblong hatch makes it pretty easy to get a rigged rod with a reel attached into your hull for safe storage. It'll also swallow a good sized ling without a blink and it paddles really nicely. Even still, as WR said, a rod cover makes it easier. Anything that makes it easier makes it more likely that you'll actually stow your rod which GREATLY lessens the chance of loosing or breaking it.   (DAMHIK)*

Actually, about the only thing "wrong" with your boat is that it does not come with pedals.  >:D
Guess they all can't be Hobie's. :laugh:

Next you'll be pushing some little blue pill that'll give your rod more action......  >:D

As for picking on my boat, I'll assume that's the same as a "Welcome" to the NWKA forum (kayak hazing at its best) :boxing: and I can even cut you some slack about mine not having pedals as my next one is the Hobie Outback. Hobie can thank ndogg and Jammer for that sale. :icon_thumright:
