I took my kayak out fishing Sunday from 9:30 - 1:30 out of George Rogers Park. This is my second trip in the kayak and it was great. I landed 9 smallmouth and 1 big squawfish. The bass were on the small side with the biggest ones running around 13-14". However, they are really fat and fought hard for their size. I caught every fish on a crayfish colored crankbait that runs about 10' (you can see it in the squawfish picture). I tried fishing soft plastic some, but it was hard to put the crankbait rod down :)

The water was getting pretty rough towards the end but the outback handled it like a champ! I am really pleased with this yak. The only thing that is not quite perfect is that the pedals hit the hull at full stroke. I have them set to 7 (since I am tall) and I need to purposefully shorten my stroke a little bit them from hitting the hull. Overall this is a mild annoyance for a fish catching machine :)

Nice job catching the smallies. Are you planning on entering the NA Bass tourney this Saturday? Bass like that would send you home with some cool prizes. Nice job!

Unfortunately this Saturday is the annual cleanup at my son's school. That will take a good bit of the day. Thus I will have to pass. I hope it can become an annual event. I would love to fish it next year.
