I've carried my Scotty pump in various ways, but have never been satisfied with any of them.  My last location was loosely tethered inside the crotch hatch of the Revo.  It rattled around and knocked my transducer askew.

So I devised a secure and compact internal mount from which the pump is easily and quickly removed.

Nice design and write-up!

I like to keep mine on the outside of my yak.  I figure there's a good possibility that if I ever need to use it, I'll likely find out while I'm floating next to my yak.  As unstable as kayaks get once they have a bunch of water in their hulls, trying to dig out a pump from inside a hatch could really suck.

To that end, I normally keep it bungee'd in the tankwell.

Demonick, you just like building stuff as much as I do, don't you?

You can see where I put mine in my Avatar picture above.  It doesn't move, hasn't been in the way while fishing, the and waves over the bow don't even bother it.
Easy to grab whether I'm in the yak or not.

Here's the picture blown up.

Nice write-up Demonick. I have been keeping mine inside, as well.  Mainly because I haven't quite figured out where I want it yet.  This gives me another option.

Insayn-I also like the confidence you have in your ability to catch big fish with that 60" folding Rapala measuring device.  I almost bought one today myself.

Mine's in the center hatch.  The Adventure has a good spot thats easily accessible, bungee keeps it in place, never moves.

When I first started researching Kayaks and common accessories,  I had seen a few videos regarding  pumps, but they always were utilized with sit in models.    It made since since even a good deep water re-entry will result is a fair amount of water to be removed.    I hadn't considered their need with a SOT until now.  Good food for thought.
I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

most of our hatches aren't all that water tight, let alone -proof. surf launch or huli several times and no matter what ya got you'll need to drain it. especially true of stock first flight T15 rod pod covers when capsized and not righted in a timely manner.

after that happened, i bought a pump..  ;)
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

You already have me thinking of an Automatic Bilge pump project

IIRC, someone on this forum permanently mounted a Scotty pump in a side mesh pocket of a Revo or Adventure, so the bilge could be pumped without opening a hatch.  I don't remember who it was and I could not find it with a few simple searches.  It was mounted at about a 45 degree angle.

I think it was RevoRoy that did that.

Good point.  In the case I need to bail while off the Revo, the most easily accessible hatch would be my large forward hatch.  Perhaps I need another pump mounted inside the forward hatch.

Thanks, INSAYN.  Yes, RevoRoy.  Here is the thread link:
