I guess I got spoiled over the last few weeks with the PDX meetup, Crabbing, and then the winter fishing class at Next Adventure.

My truck is in the shop until thanksgiving, so renting the Revo over the weekend is out unless I can find someone to tag along with, soooo ...

Anything interesting going on?

I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

I'm wide open after Sunday pretty much any day next week is good.

Anyone want to hit the Columbia for Sturgeon? My Tandem Island has room for one crew member. I need to buy a sturgeon rod (or just use one of my Salmon rods). I'm also up for crabbing or any other suggestions.

It isn't fishing and it isn't kayaking but there is a nice minus tide set in the evening after turkey day and I'm getting hungry for some razor clams. They fall in the evening, so you'll need a light/lantern. I'm too cheap to pay $18/pound so I need to go dig 'em.

 Anybody?

Hmm.  Never gone clamming.

I would love to learn.  Have lantern will travel.

I could also probably do either monday or Tuesday next week for sturgeon or crabbing or something.

How late is the minus tide.  My kiddos may get a kick out of that.  I can make it a family thing.  I found a place that makes breathable waders for kids so I may pick some up for my boys.

I think I might have piped up too soon. MSW is trending upward, looks like a storm is going to land on T-giving. 15 foot beach break/storm surge will negate the -2 ft. low tide.

Rain and wind also makes it tougher to spot the "shows" (clam holes). We'll find a better suited day to get the kiddos out there. Unfortunately the only good minus sets I see on the horizon fall on X-mas eve/day.
April 8, has a good tide in the morning when we can see what we're doing.

I'd be up for heading out the day after Turkey day, the 25th, if anyone is interested.

Dang it!  I was thinking of taking my waders and getting me some clams on 23rd or 24th at Clatsop beach.

Staying at the Astoria/Warrenton KOA for a few days around and including Turkey day.  Family tradition.

I'm not saying you can't get them, I'm just saying it's probably not worth a drive from the valley. If you're already there go dig.
