In a nut shell it is an EASY paddle safely away from the ocean, currents, and mostly unaffected by tidal swings.  With the use of Crabhawks kids can pull them all day long from the kayak, and there is usually always smaller crab in each pull that will keep kids interested, with the occasional keeper for the bonus.

It's all about the kiddo's!
If ya wanna join my son and I, PM me for details of where.

(Rather not broadcast location willy nilly for the lurkers.)  ;)

We had a blast!

Left the house around 9:30am and headed for the crabbing hole.

Found snow over the coast range.  Slick and cold!

Treated to a decent outlook for the day weatherwise after hitting Tillamook.
Nice herd of elk near the Air Museum.

Tanner all pimped for some cold water.  Several layers of breathables, and great dry top that Ndogg hooked us up with earlier this summer.

Trout from last year out of Hagg Lake.  I'm not a big trout eater, but the crab seemed to like it.  As well as the diving birds.  No fur bags!

Tanner digging the crabbing via kayak for sure!

After catching two keepers and nearly running out of bait, we turned to phase two of our crabbing adventure here.
We took foot and walked around and picked up 4 more.  Three of which were 6-3/4" or better.

Found a prego momma too!  Never seen this before.

Also scrounged up 8 big Cockles.

Tanner holding up the loot.

Bout ready to pop the heads off these guys and head for Pelican Pub for some grub.

But not before Tanner taking a quick dip in the FREAKING cold water!

Great time spent with my boy today.  He had a blast, I had a blast, learned some new tricks.
Love the kayak crabbing!!!!!

Awesome report. Just showed it to my 9 year old grandson and he said "when are we going, Hoppa? Can we go tomorrow?"

How about a repeat next Saturday? Let me know if anyone's up for it!

Congrats to both of you on a great day. Jr doesn't appear to be bothered by the cold one bit and as usual, you've provided a great report.

Desperately seeking crab rings for next Saturday. Please advise where I can find the "good" ones (green nets).

What an awesome report.  I so envy you.....having girls that did not go in for this sort of thing, I never got to have such an experience.  Well done, sir.

Very nice!  Great report and those are some good eats!

Alaska is locked in a cold freeze.  Going to check out the ice fishing gear so I can take the kiddos along once it get a tad warmer.

Great job!!!!  Can't wait to get my kids on the water in the kayaks!

Awesome outing and report Insane.  I have been trying to find a dry top for my oldest boy for a few months now.  No one seems to have them available in his size.  What brand did you get?

I picked one up at Dick's last Sunday before the Monday (14th) outing.  They had several more.
