REI just sent out a coupon for 30% off any REI branded product (code: REISAVE). The Heavyweight Polartec Power Dry Long Underwear bottoms normally cost $44.50 with coupon knocks them down to $31.15.

Makes for a good base layer. I wear tights under mine and have never had a chilly keister. Available in men's or women's.

I have a pair of these and I hate them.  They are loose fitting, and in some ways under a pair of jeans they seem to wick heat away from me and make me colder.  Weird.  Also this is the "new PolarTec".  The old PolarTec was a stretch fleece which works very well to keep one warm, but does not have a fly.  At least these have a fly.

Aside: Flyless men's under garments are a plot to further emasculate men, further the politically correct myth that men and women are the same, and remove the natural, god-given advantages of being male.

I haven't had a fly in my underwear for years.  It's not that hard to pull it off to the side, or pull the front down far enough to fish it out and relieve oneself.

Sad.  That's one down.

How about under a dry suit?

Frankly I find it more comfortable without the fly.  I always used to "fall out" when I still had a fly.  Never tried (yet) to deal with that while wearing a dry suit.  We'll see what happens in a few months.

Demonick, I stopped by REI today and you're right, the Power Dry ones are kind of lame. I didn't know they changed them. I like the old stretchy fleece kind better. The shirts might not be too bad, but there is better stuff out there.

I also have an old NRS Union suit - and it has a fly.  It is much like the original REI Polartec.  The only issue I have with the NRS Union suit is my shoulders often get cold because of the stretchy material required to get into it through the neck (no zipper).  I love the union suit and wear it when it is REALLY cold under another layer, most often an old Polartec top and an old pair of military fleece long johns with a fly.
