I'm not aware of any rules against catch and release and do it for fun, but it is hard on the fish.

Maybe we can use hookless lures with a gopro for recon.

In Sept. & Oct.  I released a ton of fish and a bunch of them didn't look like they were gonna make it.  My Grandpa shaped my views about Conservation when I was pretty young and I sort of favor the "Kill em & cook em" approach to "Catch & Release".    Gramps view about our responsibilities was that this is here for our use but we best take care of it, and you NEVER kill it if you aren't gonna eat it.  (As you might guess, this was a lesson about cleaning fish when you catch them) .  Anyhow, it is hard to part with those early influences ya know.

Still what was happening in early fall wasn't normal in my experience, we were hooking 20 or 30 fish in a couple of hours, you damage a lot of fish with that many hook ups.  If you are only hooking 1 or 2, which is normal in my experience, it's not so bad.

Based on Port Angeles tides for the 18th-20th, best tides would be in the early am to late am/and or early pm. Then there's fairly big tide drops. Doable,but Ohbryant lives there and knows the area best me thinks. The area just west of  Observatory Pt around  looks good in around 120' of water and the area around Three Humps to the Garbage
Dump area looks good. There's a bar there that drops from about 120'-sloping down to
deeper depths. this one would be a much longer haul. Who's all going?

Been out of town for almost a month but I'm still planning on participating this year weather permitting.  If you think you are coming let me know, if there are just a couple we can accommodate you I think.  Looking forward to getting on the water.

Wow---I LOVE Zion---and just about any park in Utah, especially love Canyonlands.  Did you get a chanceto see Angel's Landing----the #1 uncontested scariest hike in the US, maybe the world.

the first pic is the wild "Walter's Wiggles, relatively safe and not much exposure but exhausting on a hot day---bring at least 2 quarts of water/or gatorade.



next is the spine, where those with acrophobia tend to freeze and back down. It's about 1200 feet straight down on one side, 900 on the other, and about as wide as your kitchen table.
The chains help, though--- I have acrophobia dating to a near fall from a carillon tower, maybe next life I'll do the Landing.

Nice vids!  Didn't do the Angel's Landing but hoping to next time.  Am planning to take my older boys down and hike through the Narrow's this year.  Only had 1 day there on the way home.

So noone coming for the Derby?  Lot's of good prizes.  Would love some company.
