Thanks everyone!  As you can imagine, I worked my butt off for that fish.
If you look closely at the measurement pic you can she was spitting eggs when I caught her so I have these sitting in my fridge.

That thing is ridiculous, is that one of those triploids? Not worthy!

Sorry, didn't see the last post, if it's a breeder, it's not a triploid.

You are something else.

Sweet catch!  Its amazing that she was there in that shallow lake.   Planter?  What color was the meat?  Pink?

Yes, definitely a planter.  It was one of the brood trout they throw in the lakes after they have passed their reproductive peak.  I seriously doubt that hold-overs are possible in this pond given how shallow it is and all the vegetation it has.

Sorry, I don't believe that genetic freak can still be considered a "trout".  I have to disqualify those points.   Now go out and catch a regular planter like everyone else.

         rawkfish,

That is an awesome trout.Reminds me of some of the bows in the Kenai River where I've caught my personal best @ 28".Fun times and a very well told tale.

One glaring ommission-----------location,location,location........must be waiting til the 1st of the year.eh ?
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Thanks Mark.  I was thinking that the Kenai would be one of those places you could find home-grown, natural 'bows of that size.

As for the location... Some things are better left unsaid in open space.  ;D  I had to do a little scouting around to find this place but it really isn't much of a secret at all.  However, I'm happy to disclose details in a more discrete fashion as a couple of members have already found out.  ;)

You just need to be able to recognize your train locomotives to narrow the location down. ;D

Dang! What a hawg!  Congrats. Your persistence really paid off!  I have caught big planters (26" @ 10 lbs is my personal best) and they are a blast. Once, I had a big one about 8 lbs nose down into the weeds like yours did, and I just couldn't get it back out. I finally busted it off, since I wasn't going to bonk and eat it (already had a couple of nice 15" hardbodies on the stringer).  Nice work!
