I got 4 salmon in 30 minutes on a lil' cloe... easy as hell too.  cast, jig, and slow retrieve... I've never caught salmon like that before!

What are y'all using for salmon down there?

I like to troll a bare chovie on a slip rig behind a dodger and DeepSix.  Most of the fish today were coming on RSK or WMA.  I got a 10 pounder / 31".  It was a tough bite, and I'm glad to have scored.   :)

I'd like to see the chovie rig laid out if not too much trouble, is there a NorCal thread?... also, what's the scoop on hali? does cali-hali count the same as pac-but? What's the rig for those fishies? In the cove?

Thanks, RR - that's a Trophy Trough - I have one that I'll measure the tourney fish with and it houses placques on the back for the top teams each year - it stays with me.  A second 48"+ Trophy Trough goes to the AOTD.   :)

PNW - watch this video for more on my favorite "straight bait" rig:

I use many different variations, but the art of hooking a chovie on the slip rig is at the center of my practice.

Thank you, CBY!    :)

Just ONE little Thing to ADD , Fish and Game is at the cove( in Force) Most that time, with A Zodieack and Divers, MAKE SURE you are using Barbless or Crimed Barbs on your Salmon Gear THE Fine is Huge..and I'm Not sure if things Have Changed But it USE to be A Single Hook Rig's Only you Might want to Check on that..At Browns Sport in Garberville To Pick up Your Tem Lic..Check the Rule's as They've been Known to Change Daily in the cove..Have fun Wish I could Make it.

Double hook slip rig is legal for trolling.  Mooching must be done with fixed circle hooks.  Two hook limit for salmon - NO single hook requirement, but thanks for the info.

The campground is pretty secure and quite a few of us will be around for pre-fish.
