How does one go about choosing the length of a rod for yak fishing?  Been looking at the lami kayak series and am interested in the LK 7620 C and the LK 7640 C rods... both are 7 1/2ft, one is rated 8-20 and the other is 20-40... I figure these two rods would probably take care of any bottom fishing or even salmon fishing I'd do in puget sound... but like always looking for other points of view and for some knowledge from you guys who have been doin this for awhile ;) so yeah...

Howdy red-

I just use standard rods, usually 8 1/2' min, (unless using UL equipment in freshwater) up to 11'. I like a long rod to be able to easily work around the ends of the boat. I also like a long, relatively soft rod to keep fish on, while using barbless hooks.
