So,  I've been in a serious posting slump, anti-social and anti-technology(didn't take one salmon vid this season)  :-\  Time to get back in the swing of things..

What the hell has he been doing!!

Lets see..Salmon season was interesting to say the least! started out on the worst slump i have ever experienced in my short salmon fishing career. had one fish on the first ten trips, but lost it due to net operator error and finally landed my first fish on the 15th+ trip. It was unreal and i was ready to sell my kayak and my house, move to palm springs and take up golf!...

One day yaksurf was down fishing and i dropped  my kayak off at the ramp, went and parked my truck and was talking with YS as he got ready to launch and i looked over my shoulder and said to Dana,"hey, theres another guy on a blue hobie out there!"..Of course about a second later i realized it was not another yakker but in fact was my kayak floating out in the middle of the trolling lane!!LOL, me and dana freaked and frantically grabbed his kayak off the trailer and ran it to the water. By this time after many boats had to steer around my yak one guy pulled his gear and towed it back to me. I thanked the guy and told him he will have good karme for that...I saw him not more then a hour later and he had landed a 25 pounder shiortly after sending his gear back down!! Instant karma...the good kind!

Dorsal fin hooked a thirty pounder! That was rediculous, thought i had my forty pounder and didn't even see the fish for 15 minutes in 15 feet of water. Took me another 20 to finally get it in the net. It was cool releasing that beast tired but totally unharmed.

..And don't even ask me about the outhouse incident!!...

The fish did start rolling in and ended up tagging 9 fish, up 3 from last year so it was good, fished a lot of days for thet though!

A pic of my big fish for 2011. Didn't break the 30 pound mark but it was great fighting 27.5 pounder!

See ya on the water..
Roy

Noticed you were AWOL but figured you were out quietly fishing away, catching lots of fish. Congrats on the steelhead, that's quite a feat in a kayak. I hope to get my kayak seaworthy this season and get down your way with it next summer.

Don't worry Roy, you're not alone. Chinook can do that to you. Well, unless you're Ron. :)

Roy, good to see you back here.  I thought you were keeping quite because you had a secret plan for AOTY.  I was 99% sure you were going to post a monster at 11:59 on Dec 31.

I was trying..I fished two a days for about 4-5 days there at the end. Fishing steelhead in the morning and then stopping at a lake on the way home to try to get a trout upgrade...
See ya on the water..

That's a sweet fish Roy! I'm hoping to polish my kayak salmon fishing skills this season and get a more salmon in the boat. This is great motivation for me.
