All your fish look really healthy and shiny, compared to some of the scum coated pond floaters I seem to catch.  :-\

I've always told myself if it wasn't for Disney World, there isn't much of a reason to go to Florida.  But, fishing could easily take top honors with that footage.

Oh, and I'm with Wali in noticing your fabulous balancing skills being that you are 8'12" standing on a "two ba four", until you panned a little lower and showed the training wheels sticking out there.   My Homer Simpson figure would require me to use a pair of Sevylor bananas to keep me stable enough to stand up, let alone fight a fish any bigger than a juvinile Goby.  ;D

Yes, what is the deal with the training wheels Rory?   How much Stability/Support do they offer?

Gah.  Now I'm all cranked up to go fishing.  Serious cabin fever, bros.

Tell me about it.  The lakes are frozen and the rivers are all blown out....  I guess I'll take the snowboard out this weekend instead.

Great video Rory! Your video really makes me feel the need to visit my brother in Florida! I love all the fishing down there. It is truly a fishing paradise! Once again, thanks for putting all the work in to make that video (the editing, the fishing does not count as work). It turned out great and warmed a lot of winter spirits here in the NW.

P.S.
I was also glad that you gave the gar some screen time. They hit a lot but sure are hard to hook in that bony mouth. I think that they are always interesting to catch - but always a little terrifying to release!

I miss my FL.... Great vid Rory!! I'll be in Melbourne for the last week of Feb. Not gonna have a ton of fishing time, but the pompano are so thick around then! The cobia migration should be on too if I can find time to get off shore.

OK, just left Vero Beach where I managed to land one puny little bass and after watching this I'm definitely finding some fishing while I'm here. Staying all week at Walt Disney World with the bride, no grandkids on this trip so I'm going to find a guide and head out on Wednesday to Lake Toho.

FFTW, where are you in FL? Close enough to meet up somewhere?

Any suggestions are welcome, I already picked up a cheap little telescoping spinning outfit at Walmart so I'm primed to go! Probably try plinking on Bay Lake around Wilderness Lodge tomorrow.

IH, if you're going to be out there you *really* should try to hit up the Indian River Lagoon.  It is literally just north of Vero Beach, and is some of the best kayak fishing territory in the country.  When you see pics of dudes with slob snook or redfish, they almost always come from there.  I am sure there are a million places to rent a kayak out that way.  If you have time, you should hit it up!  I'm sure FFT would agree.

I know one of those commandments must say something about hating your neighbor out of envy......   >:D

It must be nice to be fishing where "Dressing for Immersion" means shorts with deep pockets so your car keys don't fall out when you jump in to cool off.    ;D

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

BASS? Whats that? ;D

About an hour east of you (and a few hours south of me) is the Banana River No Motor Zone. Other than maybe La Jolla in So Cal, this is as close to kayak fishing nirvana as it gets. I just need an excuse. Give me a call!

I didn't see Rory's last post, but we're essentially talking about the same place.

Yesterday I did some bass fishing at Lake Toho near Orlando. Went with a local guide and caught one chain pickerel and four 13-14" bass.

The plan was for me to drive up this morning to Jacksonville (about 2 1/2 hours) to fish some salt with Wali (FishesFromTupperware). This would have been a fantastic trip but sadly my wife was ill and I couldn't leave her alone today. She's better now but I'm sad to have missed the chance to meet Wali and share some great fishing experiences. Ah, next time!

Looking forward to getting back home and fishing the chilly waters of the great PNW but I will miss the warm sunny waters of Florida.

I think La Jolla is now closed to fishing thanks to the MLPA.  :disgust:

IH: hope your wife is feeling better
