Alright guys and gals......I've got a severe case of cabin fever, and I'm going nuts.  I've got a pro angler (partially rigged) and an outback (naked). Any project ideas or rigging suggestions for these things?  I'm open to anything that will work for fresh or salt water applications.  Bring any and all crazy or practical suggestions
No matter how many times the PB's tell me I'm nuts....I still smile every time I out fish them

As someone who just started working from home, cabin fever has hit me hard.  This year I made a down rigger out of an old rod, rod leashes, rod spooling station, completely disassembled and rebuilt my drive, pulled my fish finder and am remounting it now, tied a bunch of salmon and steelhead rigs and have done enough chores around the house to keep me in good favor with the boss.  Some future projects include adding rod holders and a bunch of reel maintenance.  Hopefully some of these idea help to keep you occupied.

Here is my homemade downrigger.  I haven't tested it yet, but I think it should work.

Very cool rig. What reel is that? You plan on deploying it like that?

The reel is a super old, conventional reel.  I forget the company's name but it was made in Ocean City NJ.
I am not sure how I am going to deploy it yet, but it will be similar to how it is set up now.  Once I get some GearTrac installed I will have a better idea.  My biggest concern right now is that there is not going to be enough friction on the ram mount and I will have to use a scotty.

While it is not in the picture I have a clamp on line counter the I can attach to it to know how much line I let out.

Nate

Did you use this downrigger on the salmon you caught recently? If so, how'd it handle?
