Second post...hopefully will result in a referral....Need to get my 'yak soon....twitchin' to get in the water.

I am not one to mail order anything over a certain $$$ amount and am ready to spend the $3k on a new Hobie Pro Angler.  I am having a tough time finding somebody in Olympia / South Sound area that sells Hobie.  I tried to email the people at Boston Harbor Marina who are a Hobie dealer, but have had no luck in getting any response.

I would prefer to purchase from a reputable kayak dealer that will stand behind their service and Hobie's warranty.

Any suggestions?

I can't speak for the Seattle area (or Hobies for that matter), but if you were in Portland I'm sure the team at Next Adventure would make you very happy.

It is a bit of a drive for you but I was very happy with my purchase process with Next Adventure in Portland.

I'd recommend Next Adventure (Portland) or Kayak Shed (Hood River).

Kayak Shed gave me a good deal and they are good folks with really good follow up.

Next Adventure has a bunch of great folks there, and also supports our sport on a regular basis.

Why buy in Oregon?  Because sales tax on a pro-angler is going to be around $240 in Washington.

I think I see a Portland road trip in my future :)  Thanks for the suggestions.  I will also check out the guys on the Hood River as a comparison.

I tried to look at the Portland website...no boats on the website, so a bit disappointed....

It wouldn't matter anyway, Hobie only allows advertising the MSRP.  You should call / email and see what they have in stock, and set up a demo.

I recommend giving Boston Harbor a call or stopping by the shop before trying someone else.  Working with a local dealer will make it easier in the long run if you have any problems.  There are also 2 Hobie dealers in the Seattle area, Hobie Cats Northwest and Ballard Inflatable Boats.  If that still doesn't work Next Adventure in Portland is pretty awesome.
You may want to call around a bit too to see if you can get a deal on a remaining 2011 model.

Thanks for the props, Lee!!  How's the Rev13 coming along?

OlySpec- the Pro Angler is a great fishing platform.  Any of the Hobie dealers in the Northwest will take real good care of you.

Welcome to the NWKA family  ;D

I love how the guys working at these stores don't just say " come to my store and forget the others" that's how you know this is a friendly community!

After your boat and paddle, safety gear. Orient it towards the style or kimd of fishing you will primarily be doing...
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

I have most all of my fishing gear already thank goodness.....unless I get back into fly fishing, then I might go bankrupt :)

The clothing and safety gear will be the challenge.  I am #350 and it is all in the middle....Finding non-cotton layers is challenging.  I have a good few pairs of under-layers I wear under my waders when I bank and surf fish, but will most likely need to have a dry suit custom made before I can get out to Westport and try the surf.

I am going to go demo and possibly purchase my new yak next weekend thanks to the kind people at the Kayak Shed.  D Rock has been putting up with my questions and incessant PM's for a few days now.  I look forward to getting down to his area to finally put a face to a name and take advantage of his shop's customer service.  I will be hitting up Next Adventure as well for accessories and stuff as they have also been very kind to me on the boards.

Tight lines all....hope to be floating soon with yall!!!
