"Let the good times roll?" I'm proud of myself that I didn't need the Google Language feature for that. Of course, being a certified Spanish teacher didn't hurt either...

Right you are FFTW, now that I know you're a Tiger makes me even sadder we didn't get to fish last month in JAX. Speaking of JAX, my uncle Nash was the JAX (beer) Weatherman back in the '50's, he was on TV almost 50 years, he was known in New Orleans as "Mr. Hurricane", you can Google him.

My cousin Ken was a Vice Chancellor in the Ag Dept. at LSU, ran a lot of fisheries management programs statewide.

When you comin' to visit the beautiful PNW? I'd love to take you out on my Tandem Island.

My mom went to high school with Coach Dale Brown.  It is like we are playing the NWKA Kevin Bacon Game.

WOW!!!!   Nash Roberts is your uncle!?!? That's actually pretty cool and I don't mean that sarcastically.

I grew up on Nash Roberts and his free hurricane tracking map from the TimeSaver*. We all learned the geographic coordinate system from him, charting the progress of any depression in the Atlantic, hoping that the storm would hit us to close school and praying that we didn't drown.  :D Man, anybody (over 30) from New Orleans knows "Mr. Hurricane." Wasn't he elevated to like Hurricane King by the NWS?

I'm trying to make it to ORC, but I'm afraid to say it out loud. I may hold you to that offer if I can't find that Malibu I left out there.

And isn't bacon is the candy bar of meats.

AND Mardi Gras is over! Get back to work! :whip2:

* TimeSaver (pronounced "Tom-Saay-Va") was a ubiquitous convenience store in NO (think  7-Eleven)

Yep, spent all my early Mardi Gras at his office on Royal Street with my cousins scarfing Crystal Burgers and scramblin' for beads.

My cousin and his son, Nash III & IV are fishing guides out of Happy Jack near the mouth of the Mississippi. They call themselves "Fishhunter Guide Service" and target Redfish in the flats.

Nash III, his brother Ken and I were guides in Jellystone in the early 60's. Caught a lot of cutthroat trout there.

You gotta come to ORC and I'll try to get back to Florida this year.

Mardi Gras may be over, but seeing this header line come up on the posts since I'd last been on inspired me to concoct some Gumbo and gather a few friends for a party to celebrate Fur Rondezvous (our winter carnival in Anchorage).

Yesterday's gumbo was a hit, featuring as it did lots of local seafood -- fresh oysters and spot shrimp, plus sockeye salmon from last season's catch and some spicy sausage made with venison from my husband's last hunting trip in Prince William Sound.  Life is good.

Thanks for the inspiration! It was quite a party.

Had to improvise a bit -- the snootiest gourmet grocery in the state had a very questionable file on the spice aisle, and the okra was from the freezer case. But the spirit was authentic, and grew more so with more spirits.
