When i first saw this i thot " oh crap, the law of averages caught up to that TI and there goes mast, sail, and ama's. photographs of the carnage are gonna be epic"

never once crossed my mind you stepped out of the Hobie zone and into the realm of mere paddlers until i read further.

first year mistakes. we all make or have made them. i even huli'd on Hood Canal on flat calm water reaching back to the tankwell for something... good thing i was 10 feet from shore in less than 6 feet of water. surprised and just a tiny bit wet, because i was wearing waders and no belt, i walked the boat to the beach.

Gonna go see my friend here in Talledega this week and ask to play more with his Diablo Adios, either on the Coosa River or Logan Martin Lake shallows.. wanna see if i can huli that puppy on purpose.

Hoppa, how sturdy are the leashes for your TI's drives?

... when a much younger member of my tennis team tried to wimp out on a big match next Saturday by having his wife email me.

Man card revocation is in order for this.

No doubt!  He had his wife email and make excuses?  WTF... was his mom too busy?!   Weak Sauce!

WR,

You in 'Bama, cracker? I got lots o' property in Tuscaloosa. I may have to go visit you and fish the Coosa! Too funny that name keeps popping up now.

I bought the standard Hobie drive leashes, they are very strong but also very supple and flexible so they don't get in the way at all.

Can't say just how much I admire you for posting the video so to help others understand what can happen.   Personally,  if in that same situation,  I would also be out $50 as I would have bribed my fishing buddy to never tell anyone what I did.  :-[

Your good nature about the whole ordeal puts you on the top of my "people I got to fish with some day" list.       Do you play in the USTA League ??

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

Yep, I captain a 3.5 men's team plus a Super Senior 7.0 team. Name the time and place to fish, I'm always looking for new places.

Ihop. Glad you're okay. Don't feel too bad as the salt is the recipient of well over
$1500 of gear from yakchicks 3 separate flips. Her's were due to medical conditions
we later found out affected her balance.
She is yet unable to get back in a yak and she's the one that 1st got me in a yak and she used to surf the waves in one down near Morro Bay. You are alive, learned some lessons and will be on the water soon if not already.

Hey there Fishnut.  Just curious WHAT her condition is.  I too, have a balance issue (or DID).  It's called Vaso Depressor Syncope.  Basically means you can pass out by having your head in a strange attitude (not that kind of strange!).  They discovered it when I passed out behind the wheel of a big-ass Suburban and floored the throttle.  Took out a bunch of stuff on the sidewalk and in the parking lot before coming to rest INSIDE of a convenience store.  Fortunately, it was late and the store was closed for the night.

It has only happened that one time, and never reappeared, but I am always conscious about it (no pun intended).  I take a medication that is designed for hypertension but has some kind of low pressure limiter in it, presumably to keep you from passing out.

Just curious.....
