Brian, How large a chunk of foam do you need? I'm using some black closed-cell foam that I cannibalized from my old decommissioned Sportspal canoe.  I might have enough extra to cut you a chunk. I have already had success using it with the transducer on my Humminbird Pirhana portable in my Ultimate 12 and my mini-drifter.

The torpedo-shaped DSI transducer on my new Mark 4 required some tricky sculpting, and the above-mentioned clip for holding the transducer firmly in place.

I tried to avoid getting any excess goop inside of the inner perimeter of the "donut hole," but I put it on thick all around the outer bottom edges of the cup, to insure a good seal.

I'm still a big believer in the closed cell foam with water in it. Never had an issue in 3 years and 2 yaks. I rather be fishing than messing with my yak all the time. The key is using Perrier bottled stream water ;D

Hey HJ I need what about a 4" high piece.  Be glad for some if you got it.

Hey HJ I need what about a 4" high piece.  Be glad for some if you got it.

I just put together a "tentative" foam package for you.  4" high seems excessive to me. My foam pucks are 2" high, and that seems plenty. My foam is about 2 1/8" thick, and I have chunks that are slightly more than 3" wide. A length of 6.5" was plenty adequate for my Mark 4 transducer, which is torpedo shaped and lies horizontally. A roughly 3"x3" block of it worked fine for my Humminbird Piranha transducer.

Are you using this for your transducer, and what brand and shape is it?

How soon do you need it?  I can mail the foam to you if you need it soon, no charge for the foam, but I wouldn't turn down an offer for lunch if we ever hook up for fishing to make up for the postage. I might make it up to Sequim sometime near the end of next week. I'm stuck here until at least thru the 18th.

I also have a 6" length of large pool noodle that can be cut down to 4."
