Thanks, LB.  I will mention VHF briefly tonight, but it is a pretty large topic itself.  The best information is online.

Here's my favorite site for all things VHF: http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=maritimeTelecomms

Add another to the list for tonight.  Would like to have a discussion on local rivers (Sandy and Clack) and any special techniques for pedal craft.   I am very much a newbie so anything should be helpful!!

Here is another good site for how to use a VHF:

Yes, input from some of the newbies on topic suggestions would be great.

Sorry this is late, but here are some ideas (you may already be talking about these things) that might be helpful to folks who are new to kayak fishing.

One thing that would probably be nice is to show new folks is how you lay things out on your kayaks when you go out fishing. What do you store in the front hatch? What do you store in the center hatch? What do you store in tankwell? What do leash? How many rods do you bring? How do you keep them out of the way?

Another thing that might  be helpful for newbies is a list of the minimum amount of equipment needed for different fishing situations: What do you need to fish a lake for trout or bass? What about fishing in the Willamette or Columbia for sturgeon or salmon? What about hitting a faster river like the Sandy? What about the ocean?

See you all tonight!

This might help folks who are new ease into fishing and grow from simpler situations to more complex situations in a sensible way. For each you could list the have-to-haves and the nice-to-haves.

We've got more votes for Rainier with a total of 13 people voting.  Look like we're going with the local stuff!

Leaving Oly in about 45 mins to avoid the traffic.  Yeah, I will get there early....Are there any good restaurants right close to Next Adventure?  I figure I will need to kill an hour or more before everything kicks off and really dont want to spend it stuck in traffic or just loitering at Next Adventure :)

I'll be hanging out at Next well before the clinic so you can come hang out if you want to.  There are some good places to eat around there, just can't think of any off the top of my head.

There are few good restaurants and other good ways to waste time in the area.  I am going to be there early too and can point you in the right direction.
