Get an old coffee can....put your money in it and hide it where your wife will never look.  Slowly add $$$$ as you can.   When you get enough to get a good setup, go get it.
No matter how many times the PB's tell me I'm nuts....I still smile every time I out fish them

I know what he is going through as far as the wife thing. I have been cramming money like crazy in the bank account. Ive been doing odd jobs and selling stuff. Everytime I think I'm about there I come up 200 short!? But to be fair to the wife she aint buying shoes! She pretty much handles the bills and is just paying stuff that I dont even know exists. Plus the kid just had to go to the hospital yesterday, that set me back. But Im close! Just a couple hundo more!

I might be able to swing down to Eugene area or maybe even closer toward the end of March.  We'll just have to see what happens with my schedule though.

I got an Ocean Kayak II from Outdoor Warehouse for $500, new.  It's a tandem so it will handle your weight.

If you can get it to Eugene (I live in Eugene near I-5) I can get it down to Reedsport for jgrady.  I go down that way to fish a lot.  So if you guy's can work it out and I can help out let me know.
