Fishermens Marine had a 7amp hr gelcell  battery for a deer feeder for $25. That was a couple of years ago though.

My take is you need to be aware of batteries that are not "deep cycle rated"....motorcycle batteries does not fit this description....they will take considerably fewer discharge/charge cycles and then poop out.
I use a Fisher-Price 9.5 amp-hour, power wheels battery made for a child's electric car....these batteries are bullet proof...comes with a decent, automatic quick charger....about $54 at wally world.

Yes, You only want to use a 2amp or 1 amp charger on motorcycle battrey I've had Mine 3 years and it still works good. You don't want to let them freeze or over charge them 9 amp is way to much juice. plus its light  and I can run my fish finder for 3-4 trips between charges.I don't know of any Deep cycle battreys that don't weigh alot
