If I wait long enough I can steal ideas from everyone's toy trailers and have one sweet a$$ rig.  Love both trailers in this thread.  Not only are they very practical/functional but quite the craftsmanship as well.

Keep up the good work!

Scored this on craigslist for $10..no keys but I'll try to contact the company to get keys or a new lock and key set. Or just use hasps and padlocks.

Finished up the bracing for the swaying and bending in the tubes. It's so beefy and stable now. We loaded the yaks on top and took it out on the freeway for a test run. There is quite a bit of wind drag but, we'll only be carrying the max of 6 yaks for HOW events.
We also moved the axle forward to center the wheels on the trailer for better balance and to make it easier to move when loaded. We also moved the the tongue out 2ft to accommodate the length of the Revo and T13. It also gave us the extra space up front to mount the $10 truck box.
So next up is a box/tray frame for the Truck Box up front and mounting the 6 inch rod tubes (location tbd).

I'm hoping to find one more of this same truck box. It also fits right inside the trailer and will nest on the rails perfectly. There is some space left underneath to store some camp chairs and other gear. These boxes are wide enough to put paddles and other gear.

When do you need it by?  I may be able to find one for you for free and I think it still has the keys.  I live on your way to the ORC.

I would just need to find it.  It is buried back on an upper shelf in my garage somewhere.

When I moved to Oregon I had an old 87 Toyota 4WD PU, two other vehicles, and a boat.  I realized when I was looking for a house that Portland is not a place to own more than 2 vehicles because there is no where to park them, so I sold the PU.  The box has been in the garage ever since waiting for the new pick-up that never came.  Instead I have three kids and a mini-van.

I'm heading to GS6 in May with Insayn, PNW and Yaksurf. Maybe I can stop by on the way back and grab it. I can drop you a 6 pack of your choice of brew. 8)

Looking good Dino.  Can't wait to see it in full dress.   :headbang:

That rack looks more and more like my work area.   ;)

I'm a tad concerned with the wheels and tires though.  Any idea what they are rated at?
Smaller wheels tend to have a speed limit around 50 mph or less, and that's no fun.  :-\

I thought those numbers were just "suggestions" to keep people with no trailering experience from driving to fast. ;)  Mine has seen speeds close to 90 mph higher than that once I am safely off the main (patrolled) roads in North Dakota.

Thanks. It's rated for 55mph at the trailers max load. But we should be under max load by 500 lbs easy and should be able to cruise comfortably at 60 mph. We are still thinking of bigger tires but we'll need to make bigger fenders. Probably won't be done for GS6.

What size are those rims and tires?

It is merely a calculated suggestion, much like recommended calorie intake for a person.  Everyone's mileage will vary.  However, trailer tires can be abused and neglected by previous owners and should be replaced every 4-5 years if stored outside. With that, a 50 mph rating can be seriously compromised with age and sun drying of the rubber (invisible to the us).  90 mph is a lot of rotational force that could easily separate the inner cords of the tire, especially if driven fast on bad roads.    :police:

They are 5.3 X 12 inch. Nowhere on the tires or on my trailer is there a warning about 50 mph.  I pulled it the 3200 mile round trip from Oregon to North Dakota and back and had no problems.  From the Washington border and thru Idaho, Montana, and ND  I was going at least (75 mph).  I may have been doing a few more mph in Montana and ND with no problem.

My trailer is designed to haul the weight of a couple motorcycles, or a riding lawn mower, or an ATV.  I think up to 1200 or 1500 pounds, I can't remember.  Their website is down now and is being rebuilt so I couldn't get the specs.

I too am looking making bigger fenders so I can get bigger tires.
